de flor de farinha de trigo os farás, 3 e os porás num cesto, e no cesto os trarás; trarás também o novilho e os dois carneiros. 4 Então, farás que Arão e seus filhos se cheguem à porta da tenda da congregação e os lavarás com água; 5 depois, tomarás as vestes, e vestirás Arão da túnica, da sobrepeliz, da estola sacerdotal e do peitoral, e o cingirás com o cinto de obra esmerada da estola sacerdotal; 6 pôr-lhe-ás a mitra na cabeça e sobre a mitra, a coroa sagrada. 7 Então, tomarás o óleo da unção e lho derramarás sobre a cabeça; assim o ungirás. 8 Farás, depois, que se cheguem os filhos de Arão, e os vestirás de túnicas, 9 e os cingirás com o cinto, Arão e seus filhos, e lhes atarás as tiaras, para que tenham o sacerdócio por estatuto perpétuo, e consagrarás Arão e seus filhos. 10 Farás chegar o novilho diante da tenda da congregação, e Arão e seus filhos porão as mãos sobre a cabeça dele. 11 Imolarás o novilho perante o SENHOR, à porta da tenda da congregação. 12 Depois, tomarás do sangue do novilho e o porás com o teu dedo sobre os chifres do altar; o restante do sangue derramá-lo-ás à base do altar. 13 Também tomarás toda a gordura que cobre as entranhas, o redenho do fígado, os dois rins e a gordura que está neles e queimá-los-ás sobre o altar; 14 mas a carne do novilho, a pele e os excrementos, queimá-los-ás fora do arraial; é sacrifício pelo pecado. 15 Depois, tomarás um carneiro, e Arão e seus filhos porão as mãos sobre a cabeça dele. 16 Imolarás o carneiro, e tomarás o seu sangue, e o jogarás sobre o altar ao redor; 17 partirás o carneiro em seus pedaços e, lavadas as entranhas e as pernas, pô-las-ás sobre os pedaços e sobre a cabeça. 18 Assim, queimarás todo o carneiro sobre o altar; é holocausto para o SENHOR, de aroma agradável, oferta queimada ao SENHOR. 19 Depois, tomarás o outro carneiro, e Arão e seus filhos porão as mãos sobre a cabeça dele. 20 Imolarás o carneiro, e tomarás do seu sangue, e o porás sobre a ponta da orelha direita de Arão e sobre a ponta da orelha direita de seus filhos, como também sobre o polegar da sua mão direita e sobre o polegar do seu pé direito; o restante do sangue jogarás sobre o altar ao redor. 21 Tomarás, então, do sangue sobre o altar e do óleo da unção e os aspergirás sobre Arão e suas vestes e sobre seus filhos e as vestes de seus filhos com ele; para que ele seja santificado, e as suas vestes, e também seus filhos e as vestes de seus filhos com ele. 22 Depois, tomarás do carneiro a gordura, a cauda gorda, a gordura que cobre as entranhas, o redenho do fígado, os dois rins, a gordura que está neles e a coxa direita, porque é carneiro da consagração; 23 e também um pão, um bolo de pão azeitado e uma obreia do cesto dos pães asmos que estão diante do SENHOR. 24 Todas estas coisas porás nas mãos de Arão e nas de seus filhos e, movendo-as de um lado para outro, as oferecerás como ofertas movidas perante o SENHOR. 25 Depois, as tomarás das suas mãos e as queimarás sobre o altar; é holocausto para o SENHOR, de agradável aroma, oferta queimada ao SENHOR. 26 Tomarás o peito do carneiro da consagração, que é de Arão, e, movendo-o de um lado para outro, o oferecerás como oferta movida perante o SENHOR; e isto será a tua porção. 27 Consagrarás o peito da oferta movida e a coxa da porção que foi movida, a qual se tirou do carneiro da consagração, que é de Arão e de seus filhos. 28 Isto será a obrigação perpétua dos filhos de Israel, devida a Arão e seus filhos, por ser a porção do sacerdote, oferecida, da parte dos filhos de Israel, dos sacrifícios pacíficos; é a sua oferta ao SENHOR. 29 As vestes santas de Arão passarão a seus filhos depois dele, para serem ungidos nelas e consagrados nelas. 30 Sete dias as vestirá o filho que for sacerdote em seu lugar, quando entrar na tenda da congregação para ministrar no santuário. 31 Tomarás o carneiro da consagração e cozerás a sua carne no lugar santo; 32 e Arão e seus filhos comerão a carne deste carneiro e o pão que está no cesto à porta da tenda da congregação 33 e comerão das coisas com que for feita a expiação, para consagrá-los e para santificá-los; o estranho não comerá delas, porque são santas. 34 Se sobrar alguma coisa da carne das consagrações ou do pão, até pela manhã, queimarás o que restar; não se comerá, porque é santo. 35 Assim, pois, farás a Arão e a seus filhos, conforme tudo o que te hei ordenado; por sete dias, os consagrarás. 36 Também cada dia prepararás um novilho como oferta pelo pecado para as expiações; e purificarás o altar, fazendo expiação por ele mediante oferta pelo pecado; e o ungirás para consagrá-lo. 37 Sete dias farás expiação pelo altar e o consagrarás; e o altar será santíssimo; tudo o que o tocar será santo. 38 Isto é o que oferecerás sobre o altar: dois cordeiros de um ano, cada dia, continuamente. 39 Um cordeiro oferecerás pela manhã e o outro, ao pôr-do-sol. 40 Com um cordeiro, a décima parte de um efa de flor de farinha, amassada com a quarta parte de um him de azeite batido; e, para libação, a quarta parte de um him de vinho; 41 o outro cordeiro oferecerás ao pôr-do-sol, como oferta de manjares, e a libação como de manhã, de aroma agradável, oferta queimada ao SENHOR. 42 Este será o holocausto contínuo por vossas gerações, à porta da tenda da congregação, perante o SENHOR, onde vos encontrarei, para falar contigo ali. 43 Ali, virei aos filhos de Israel, para que, por minha glória, sejam santificados, 44 e consagrarei a tenda da congregação e o altar; também santificarei Arão e seus filhos, para que me oficiem como sacerdotes. 45 E habitarei no meio dos filhos de Israel e serei o seu Deus. 46 E saberão que eu sou o SENHOR, seu Deus, que os tirou da terra do Egito, para habitar no meio deles; eu sou o SENHOR, seu Deus. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  29 And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest's office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish, 2 And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them. 3 And thou shalt put them into one basket, and bring them in the basket, with the bullock and the two rams. 4 And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water. 5 And thou shalt take the garments, and put upon Aaron the coat, and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the curious girdle of the ephod: 6 And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre. 7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him. 8 And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them. 9 And thou shalt gird them with girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put the bonnets on them: and the priest's office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons. 10 And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock. 11 And thou shalt kill the bullock before the Lord, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 12 And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar. 13 And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul that is above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar. 14 But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering. 15 Thou shalt also take one ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. 16 And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the altar. 17 And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put them unto his pieces, and unto his head. 18 And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the Lord: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the Lord. 19 And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. 20 Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. 21 And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him. 22 Also thou shalt take of the ram the fat and the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder; for it is a ram of consecration: 23 And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the Lord: 24 And thou shalt put all in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons; and shalt wave them for a wave offering before the Lord. 25 And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the Lord: it is an offering made by fire unto the Lord. 26 And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of Aaron's consecration, and wave it for a wave offering before the Lord: and it shall be thy part. 27 And thou shalt sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering, which is waved, and which is heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons: 28 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons' by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their heave offering unto the Lord. 29 And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons' after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them. 30 And that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place. 31 And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and seethe his flesh in the holy place. 32 And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 33 And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy. 34 And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy. 35 And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all things which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them. 36 And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it. 37 Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy. 38 Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually. 39 The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even: 40 And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering. 41 And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the Lord. 42 This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory. 44 And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest's office. 45 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. 46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  João 9 1 Caminhando Jesus, viu um homem cego de nascença. 2 E os seus discípulos perguntaram: Mestre, quem pecou, este ou seus pais, para que nascesse cego? 3 Respondeu Jesus: Nem ele pecou, nem seus pais; mas foi para que se manifestem nele as obras de Deus. 4 É necessário que façamos as obras daquele que me enviou, enquanto é dia; a noite vem, quando ninguém pode trabalhar. 5 Enquanto estou no mundo, sou a luz do mundo. 6 Dito isso, cuspiu na terra e, tendo feito lodo com a saliva, aplicou-o aos olhos do cego, 7 dizendo-lhe: Vai, lava-te no tanque de Siloé (que quer dizer Enviado). Ele foi, lavou-se e voltou vendo. 8 Então, os vizinhos e os que dantes o conheciam de vista, como mendigo, perguntavam: Não é este o que estava assentado pedindo esmolas? 9 Uns diziam: É ele. Outros: Não, mas se parece com ele. Ele mesmo, porém, dizia: Sou eu. 10 Perguntaram-lhe, pois: Como te foram abertos os olhos? 11 Respondeu ele: O homem chamado Jesus fez lodo, untou-me os olhos e disse-me: Vai ao tanque de Siloé e lava-te. Então, fui, lavei-me e estou vendo. 12 Disseram-lhe, pois: Onde está ele? Respondeu: Não sei. 13 Levaram, pois, aos fariseus o que dantes fora cego. 14 E era sábado o dia em que Jesus fez o lodo e lhe abriu os olhos. 15 Então, os fariseus, por sua vez, lhe perguntaram como chegara a ver; ao que lhes respondeu: Aplicou lodo aos meus olhos, lavei-me e estou vendo. 16 Por isso, alguns dos fariseus diziam: Esse homem não é de Deus, porque não guarda o sábado. Diziam outros: Como pode um homem pecador fazer tamanhos sinais? E houve dissensão entre eles. 17 De novo, perguntaram ao cego: Que dizes tu a respeito dele, visto que te abriu os olhos? Que é profeta, respondeu ele. 18 Não acreditaram os judeus que ele fora cego e que agora via, enquanto não lhe chamaram os pais 19 e os interrogaram: É este o vosso filho, de quem dizeis que nasceu cego? Como, pois, vê agora? 20 Então, os pais responderam: Sabemos que este é nosso filho e que nasceu cego; 21 mas não sabemos como vê agora; ou quem lhe abriu os olhos também não sabemos. Perguntai a ele, idade tem; falará de si mesmo. 22 Isto disseram seus pais porque estavam com medo dos judeus; pois estes já haviam assentado que, se alguém confessasse ser Jesus o Cristo, fosse expulso da sinagoga. 23 Por isso, é que disseram os pais: Ele idade tem, interrogai-o. 24 Então, chamaram, pela segunda vez, o homem que fora cego e lhe disseram: Dá glória a Deus; nós sabemos que esse homem é pecador. 25 Ele retrucou: Se é pecador, não sei; uma coisa sei: eu era cego e agora vejo. 26 Perguntaram-lhe, pois: Que te fez ele? como te abriu os olhos? 27 Ele lhes respondeu: Já vo-lo disse, e não atendestes; por que quereis ouvir outra vez? Porventura, quereis vós também tornar-vos seus discípulos? 28 Então, o injuriaram e lhe disseram: Discípulo dele és tu; mas nós somos discípulos de Moisés. 29 Sabemos que Deus falou a Moisés; mas este nem sabemos donde é. 30 Respondeu-lhes o homem: Nisto é de estranhar que vós não saibais donde ele é, e, contudo, me abriu os olhos. 31 Sabemos que Deus não atende a pecadores; mas, pelo contrário, se alguém teme a Deus e pratica a sua vontade, a este atende. 32 Desde que há mundo, jamais se ouviu que alguém tenha aberto os olhos a um cego de nascença. 33 Se este homem não fosse de Deus, nada poderia ter feito. 34 Mas eles retrucaram: Tu és nascido todo em pecado e nos ensinas a nós? E o expulsaram. 35 Ouvindo Jesus que o tinham expulsado, encontrando-o, lhe perguntou: Crês tu no Filho do Homem? 36 Ele respondeu e disse: Quem é, Senhor, para que eu nele creia? 37 E Jesus lhe disse: Já o tens visto, e é o que fala contigo. 38 Então, afirmou ele: Creio, Senhor; e o adorou. 39 Prosseguiu Jesus: Eu vim a este mundo para juízo, a fim de que os que não vêem vejam, e os que vêem se tornem cegos. 40 Alguns dentre os fariseus que estavam perto dele perguntaram-lhe: Acaso, também nós somos cegos? 41 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Se fôsseis cegos, não teríeis pecado algum; mas, porque agora dizeis: Nós vemos, subsiste o vosso pecado. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  9 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. 8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? 9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he. 10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? 11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. 12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. 15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. 16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. 17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. 18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? 20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. 24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. 25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. 26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? 28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. 29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. 30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. 31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. 32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. 33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. 34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. 39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. 40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? 41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Provérbios 6 1 Filho meu, se ficaste por fiador do teu companheiro e se te empenhaste ao estranho, 2 estás enredado com o que dizem os teus lábios, estás preso com as palavras da tua boca. 3 Agora, pois, faze isto, filho meu, e livra-te, pois caíste nas mãos do teu companheiro: vai, prostra-te e importuna o teu companheiro; 4 não dês sono aos teus olhos, nem repouso às tuas pálpebras; 5 livra-te, como a gazela, da mão do caçador e, como a ave, da mão do passarinheiro. 6 Vai ter com a formiga, ó preguiçoso, considera os seus caminhos e sê sábio. 7 Não tendo ela chefe, nem oficial, nem comandante, 8 no estio, prepara o seu pão, na sega, ajunta o seu mantimento. 9 Ó preguiçoso, até quando ficarás deitado? Quando te levantarás do teu sono? 10 Um pouco para dormir, um pouco para tosquenejar, um pouco para encruzar os braços em repouso, 11 assim sobrevirá a tua pobreza como um ladrão, e a tua necessidade, como um homem armado. 12 O homem de Belial, o homem vil, é o que anda com a perversidade na boca, 13 acena com os olhos, arranha com os pés e faz sinais com os dedos. 14 No seu coração há perversidade; todo o tempo maquina o mal; anda semeando contendas. 15 Pelo que a sua destruição virá repentinamente; subitamente, será quebrantado, sem que haja cura. 16 Seis coisas o SENHOR aborrece, e a sétima a sua alma abomina: 17 olhos altivos, língua mentirosa, mãos que derramam sangue inocente, 18 coração que trama projetos iníquos, pés que se apressam a correr para o mal, 19 testemunha falsa que profere mentiras e o que semeia contendas entre irmãos. 20 Filho meu, guarda o mandamento de teu pai e não deixes a instrução de tua mãe; 21 ata-os perpetuamente ao teu coração, pendura-os ao pescoço. 22 Quando caminhares, isso te guiará; quando te deitares, te guardará; quando acordares, falará contigo. 23 Porque o mandamento é lâmpada, e a instrução, luz; e as repreensões da disciplina são o caminho da vida; 24 para te guardarem da vil mulher e das lisonjas da mulher alheia. 25 Não cobices no teu coração a sua formosura, nem te deixes prender com as suas olhadelas. 26 Por uma prostituta o máximo que se paga é um pedaço de pão, mas a adúltera anda à caça de vida preciosa. 27 Tomará alguém fogo no seio, sem que as suas vestes se incendeiem? 28 Ou andará alguém sobre brasas, sem que se queimem os seus pés? 29 Assim será com o que se chegar à mulher do seu próximo; não ficará sem castigo todo aquele que a tocar. 30 Não é certo que se despreza o ladrão, quando furta para saciar-se, tendo fome? 31 Pois este, quando encontrado, pagará sete vezes tanto; entregará todos os bens de sua casa. 32 O que adultera com uma mulher está fora de si; só mesmo quem quer arruinar-se é que pratica tal coisa. 33 Achará açoites e infâmia, e o seu opróbrio nunca se apagará. 34 Porque o ciúme excita o furor do marido; e não terá compaixão no dia da vingança. 35 Não se contentará com o resgate, nem aceitará presentes, ainda que sejam muitos. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  6 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. 3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. 4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. 5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. 6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. 12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. 13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; 14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. 15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. 16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. 20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. 22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. 23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: 24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. 25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life. 27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? 28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? 29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. 30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; 31 But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. 32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. 33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. 34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. 35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦
