Juízes 11
1 Era, então, Jefté, o gileadita, homem valente, porém filho de uma prostituta; Gileade gerara a Jefté.
2 Também a mulher de Gileade lhe deu filhos, os quais, quando já grandes, expulsaram Jefté e lhe disseram: Não herdarás em casa de nosso pai, porque és filho doutra mulher.
3 Então, Jefté fugiu da presença de seus irmãos e habitou na terra de Tobe; e homens levianos se ajuntaram com ele e com ele saíam.
4 Passado algum tempo, pelejaram os filhos de Amom contra Israel.
5 Quando pelejavam, foram os anciãos de Gileade buscar Jefté da terra de Tobe.
6 E disseram a Jefté: Vem e sê nosso chefe, para que combatamos contra os filhos de Amom.
7 Porém Jefté disse aos anciãos de Gileade: Porventura, não me aborrecestes a mim e não me expulsastes da casa de meu pai? Por que, pois, vindes a mim, agora, quando estais em aperto?
8 Responderam os anciãos de Gileade a Jefté: Por isso mesmo, tornamos a ti. Vem, pois, conosco, e combate contra os filhos de Amom, e sê o nosso chefe sobre todos os moradores de Gileade.
9 Então, Jefté perguntou aos anciãos de Gileade: Se me tornardes a levar para combater contra os filhos de Amom, e o SENHOR mos der a mim, então, eu vos serei por cabeça?
10 Responderam os anciãos de Gileade a Jefté: O SENHOR será testemunha entre nós e nos castigará se não fizermos segundo a tua palavra.
11 Então, Jefté foi com os anciãos de Gileade, e o povo o pôs por cabeça e chefe sobre si; e Jefté proferiu todas as suas palavras perante o SENHOR, em Mispa.
12 Enviou Jefté mensageiros ao rei dos filhos de Amom, dizendo: Que há entre mim e ti que vieste a mim a pelejar contra a minha terra?
13 Respondeu o rei dos filhos de Amom aos mensageiros de Jefté: É porque, subindo Israel do Egito, me tomou a terra desde Arnom até ao Jaboque e ainda até ao Jordão; restitui-ma, agora, pacificamente.
14 Porém Jefté tornou a enviar mensageiros ao rei dos filhos de Amom,
15 dizendo-lhe: Assim diz Jefté: Israel não tomou nem a terra dos moabitas nem a terra dos filhos de Amom;
16 porque, subindo Israel do Egito, andou pelo deserto até ao mar Vermelho e chegou a Cades.
17 Então, Israel enviou mensageiros ao rei dos edomitas, dizendo: Rogo-te que me deixes passar pela tua terra. Porém o rei dos edomitas não lhe deu ouvidos; a mesma coisa mandou Israel pedir ao rei dos moabitas, o qual também não lhe quis atender; e, assim, Israel ficou em Cades.
18 Depois, andou pelo deserto, e rodeou a terra dos edomitas e a terra dos moabitas, e chegou ao oriente da terra destes, e se acampou além do Arnom; por isso, não entrou no território dos moabitas, porque Arnom é o limite deles.
19 Mas Israel enviou mensageiros a Seom, rei dos amorreus, rei de Hesbom; e disse-lhe: Deixa-nos, peço-te, passar pela tua terra até ao meu lugar.
20 Porém Seom, não confiando em Israel, recusou deixá-lo passar pelo seu território; pelo contrário, ajuntou todo o seu povo, e se acampou em Jaza, e pelejou contra Israel.
21 O SENHOR, Deus de Israel, entregou Seom e todo o seu povo nas mãos de Israel, que os feriu; e Israel desapossou os amorreus das terras que habitavam.
22 Tomou posse de todo o território dos amorreus, desde o Arnom até ao Jaboque e desde o deserto até ao Jordão.
23 Assim, o SENHOR, Deus de Israel, desapossou os amorreus ante o seu povo de Israel. E pretendes tu ser dono desta terra?
24 Não é certo que aquilo que Quemos, teu deus, te dá consideras como tua possessão? Assim, possuiremos nós o território de todos quantos o SENHOR, nosso Deus, expulsou de diante de nós.
25 És tu melhor do que o filho de Zipor, Balaque, rei dos moabitas? Porventura, contendeu este, em algum tempo, com Israel ou pelejou alguma vez contra ele?
26 Enquanto Israel habitou trezentos anos em Hesbom e nas suas vilas, e em Aroer e nas suas vilas, e em todas as cidades que estão ao longe do Arnom, por que vós, amonitas, não as recuperastes durante esse tempo?
27 Não sou eu, portanto, quem pecou contra ti! Porém tu fazes mal em pelejar contra mim; o SENHOR, que é juiz, julgue hoje entre os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Amom.
28 Porém o rei dos filhos de Amom não deu ouvidos à mensagem que Jefté lhe enviara.
29 Então, o Espírito do SENHOR veio sobre Jefté; e, atravessando este por Gileade e Manassés, passou até Mispa de Gileade e de Mispa de Gileade passou contra os filhos de Amom.
30 Fez Jefté um voto ao SENHOR e disse: Se, com efeito, me entregares os filhos de Amom nas minhas mãos,
31 quem primeiro da porta da minha casa me sair ao encontro, voltando eu vitorioso dos filhos de Amom, esse será do SENHOR, e eu o oferecerei em holocausto.
32 Assim, Jefté foi de encontro aos filhos de Amom, a combater contra eles; e o SENHOR os entregou nas mãos de Jefté.
33 Este os derrotou desde Aroer até às proximidades de Minite (vinte cidades ao todo) e até Abel-Queramim; e foi mui grande a derrota. Assim, foram subjugados os filhos de Amom diante dos filhos de Israel.
34 Vindo, pois, Jefté a Mispa, a sua casa, saiu-lhe a filha ao seu encontro, com adufes e com danças; e era ela filha única; não tinha ele outro filho nem filha.
35 Quando a viu, rasgou as suas vestes e disse: Ah! Filha minha, tu me prostras por completo; tu passaste a ser a causa da minha calamidade, porquanto fiz voto ao SENHOR e não tornarei atrás.
36 E ela lhe disse: Pai meu, fizeste voto ao SENHOR; faze, pois, de mim segundo o teu voto; pois o SENHOR te vingou dos teus inimigos, os filhos de Amom.
37 Disse mais a seu pai: Concede-me isto: deixa-me por dois meses, para que eu vá, e desça pelos montes, e chore a minha virgindade, eu e as minhas companheiras.
38 Consentiu ele: Vai. E deixou-a ir por dois meses; então, se foi ela com as suas companheiras e chorou a sua virgindade pelos montes.
39 Ao fim dos dois meses, tornou ela para seu pai, o qual lhe fez segundo o voto por ele proferido; assim, ela jamais foi possuída por varão. Daqui veio o costume em Israel
40 de as filhas de Israel saírem por quatro dias, de ano em ano, a cantar em memória da filha de Jefté, o gileadita.
11 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. 2 And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman. 3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him. 4 And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel. 5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob: 6 And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon. 7 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress? 8 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead. 9 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the Lord deliver them before me, shall I be your head? 10 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The Lord be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words. 11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the Lord in Mizpeh. 12 And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land? 13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably. 14 And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon: 15 And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon: 16 But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh; 17 Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh. 18 Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab. 19 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place. 20 But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel. 21 And the Lord God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. 22 And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan. 23 So now the Lord God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it? 24 Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the Lord our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess. 25 And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them, 26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time? 27 Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the Lord the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon. 28 Howbeit the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him. 29 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon. 30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, 31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. 32 So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord delivered them into his hands. 33 And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel. 34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the Lord, and I cannot go back. 36 And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the Lord, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the Lord hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon. 37 And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows. 38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains. 39 And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel, 40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

Atos 15
1 Alguns indivíduos que desceram da Judéia ensinavam aos irmãos: Se não vos circuncidardes segundo o costume de Moisés, não podeis ser salvos.
2 Tendo havido, da parte de Paulo e Barnabé, contenda e não pequena discussão com eles, resolveram que esses dois e alguns outros dentre eles subissem a Jerusalém, aos apóstolos e presbíteros, com respeito a esta questão.
3 Enviados, pois, e até certo ponto acompanhados pela igreja, atravessaram as províncias da Fenícia e Samaria e, narrando a conversão dos gentios, causaram grande alegria a todos os irmãos.
4 Tendo eles chegado a Jerusalém, foram bem recebidos pela igreja, pelos apóstolos e pelos presbíteros e relataram tudo o que Deus fizera com eles.
5 Insurgiram-se, entretanto, alguns da seita dos fariseus que haviam crido, dizendo: É necessário circuncidá-los e determinar-lhes que observem a lei de Moisés.
6 Então, se reuniram os apóstolos e os presbíteros para examinar a questão.
7 Havendo grande debate, Pedro tomou a palavra e lhes disse: Irmãos, vós sabeis que, desde há muito, Deus me escolheu dentre vós para que, por meu intermédio, ouvissem os gentios a palavra do evangelho e cressem.
8 Ora, Deus, que conhece os corações, lhes deu testemunho, concedendo o Espírito Santo a eles, como também a nós nos concedera.
9 E não estabeleceu distinção alguma entre nós e eles, purificando-lhes pela fé o coração.
10 Agora, pois, por que tentais a Deus, pondo sobre a cerviz dos discípulos um jugo que nem nossos pais puderam suportar, nem nós?
11 Mas cremos que fomos salvos pela graça do Senhor Jesus, como também aqueles o foram.
12 E toda a multidão silenciou, passando a ouvir a Barnabé e a Paulo, que contavam quantos sinais e prodígios Deus fizera por meio deles entre os gentios.
13 Depois que eles terminaram, falou Tiago, dizendo: Irmãos, atentai nas minhas palavras:
14 expôs Simão como Deus, primeiramente, visitou os gentios, a fim de constituir dentre eles um povo para o seu nome.
15 Conferem com isto as palavras dos profetas, como está escrito:
16 Cumpridas estas coisas, voltarei e reedificarei o tabernáculo caído de Davi; e, levantando-o de suas ruínas, restaurá-lo-ei.
17 Para que os demais homens busquem o Senhor, e também todos os gentios sobre os quais tem sido invocado o meu nome,
18 diz o Senhor, que faz estas coisas conhecidas desde séculos.
19 Pelo que, julgo eu, não devemos perturbar aqueles que, dentre os gentios, se convertem a Deus,
20 mas escrever-lhes que se abstenham das contaminações dos ídolos, bem como das relações sexuais ilícitas, da carne de animais sufocados e do sangue.
21 Porque Moisés tem, em cada cidade, desde tempos antigos, os que o pregam nas sinagogas, onde é lido todos os sábados.
22 Então, pareceu bem aos apóstolos e aos presbíteros, com toda a igreja, tendo elegido homens dentre eles, enviá-los, juntamente com Paulo e Barnabé, a Antioquia: foram Judas, chamado Barsabás, e Silas, homens notáveis entre os irmãos,
23 escrevendo, por mão deles: Os irmãos, tanto os apóstolos como os presbíteros, aos irmãos de entre os gentios em Antioquia, Síria e Cilícia, saudações.
24 Visto sabermos que alguns [que saíram] de entre nós, sem nenhuma autorização, vos têm perturbado com palavras, transtornando a vossa alma,
25 pareceu-nos bem, chegados a pleno acordo, eleger alguns homens e enviá-los a vós outros com os nossos amados Barnabé e Paulo,
26 homens que têm exposto a vida pelo nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
27 Enviamos, portanto, Judas e Silas, os quais pessoalmente vos dirão também estas coisas.
28 Pois pareceu bem ao Espírito Santo e a nós não vos impor maior encargo além destas coisas essenciais:
29 que vos abstenhais das coisas sacrificadas a ídolos, bem como do sangue, da carne de animais sufocados e das relações sexuais ilícitas; destas coisas fareis bem se vos guardardes. Saúde.
30 Os que foram enviados desceram logo para Antioquia e, tendo reunido a comunidade, entregaram a epístola.
31 Quando a leram, sobremaneira se alegraram pelo conforto recebido.
32 Judas e Silas, que eram também profetas, consolaram os irmãos com muitos conselhos e os fortaleceram.
33 Tendo-se demorado ali por algum tempo, os irmãos os deixaram voltar em paz aos que os enviaram.
34 [Mas pareceu bem a Silas permanecer ali.]
35 Paulo e Barnabé demoraram-se em Antioquia, ensinando e pregando, com muitos outros, a palavra do Senhor.
36 Alguns dias depois, disse Paulo a Barnabé: Voltemos, agora, para visitar os irmãos por todas as cidades nas quais anunciamos a palavra do Senhor, para ver como passam.
37 E Barnabé queria levar também a João, chamado Marcos.
38 Mas Paulo não achava justo levarem aquele que se afastara desde a Panfília, não os acompanhando no trabalho.
39 Houve entre eles tal desavença, que vieram a separar-se. Então, Barnabé, levando consigo a Marcos, navegou para Chipre.
40 Mas Paulo, tendo escolhido a Silas, partiu encomendado pelos irmãos à graça do Senhor.
41 E passou pela Síria e Cilícia, confirmando as igrejas.
15 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

Jeremias 24
1 Fez-me ver o SENHOR, e vi dois cestos de figos postos diante do templo do SENHOR, depois que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, levou em cativeiro a Jeconias, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, e os príncipes de Judá, e os artífices, e os ferreiros de Jerusalém e os trouxe à Babilônia.
2 Tinha um cesto figos muito bons, como os figos temporãos; mas o outro, ruins, que, de ruins que eram, não se podiam comer.
3 Então, me perguntou o SENHOR: Que vês tu, Jeremias? Respondi: Figos; os figos muito bons e os muito ruins, que, de ruins que são, não se podem comer.
4 A mim me veio a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
5 Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel: Do modo por que vejo estes bons figos, assim favorecerei os exilados de Judá, que eu enviei deste lugar para a terra dos caldeus.
6 Porei sobre eles favoravelmente os olhos e os farei voltar para esta terra; edificá-los-ei e não os destruirei, plantá-los-ei e não os arrancarei.
7 Dar-lhes-ei coração para que me conheçam que eu sou o SENHOR; eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus; porque se voltarão para mim de todo o seu coração.
8 Como se rejeitam os figos ruins, que, de ruins que são, não se podem comer, assim tratarei a Zedequias, rei de Judá, diz o SENHOR, e a seus príncipes, e ao restante de Jerusalém, tanto aos que ficaram nesta terra como aos que habitam na terra do Egito.
9 Eu os farei objeto de espanto, calamidade para todos os reinos da terra; opróbrio e provérbio, escárnio e maldição em todos os lugares para onde os arrojarei.
10 Enviarei contra eles a espada, a fome e a peste, até que se consumam de sobre a terra que lhes dei, a eles e a seus pais.
24 The Lord shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the Lord, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon. 2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. 3 Then said the Lord unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. 4 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. 6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. 7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart. 8 And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the Lord, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt: 9 And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. 10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
