Juízes 18
1 Naqueles dias, não havia rei em Israel, e a tribo dos danitas buscava para si herança em que habitar; porquanto, até àquele dia, entre as tribos de Israel, não lhe havia caído por sorte a herança.
2 Enviaram os filhos de Dã cinco homens dentre todos os da sua tribo, homens valentes, de Zorá e de Estaol, a espiar e explorar a terra; e lhes disseram: Ide, explorai a terra. Chegaram à região montanhosa de Efraim, até à casa de Mica, e ali pernoitaram.
3 Estando eles junto da casa de Mica, reconheceram a voz do moço, do levita; chegaram-se para lá e lhe disseram: Quem te trouxe para aqui? Que fazes aqui? E que é que tens aqui?
4 Ele respondeu: Assim e assim me fez Mica; pois me assalariou, e eu lhe sirvo de sacerdote.
5 Então, lhe disseram: Consulta a Deus, para que saibamos se prosperará o caminho que levamos.
6 Disse-lhes o sacerdote: Ide em paz; o caminho que levais está sob as vistas do SENHOR.
7 Partiram os cinco homens, e chegaram a Laís, e viram que o povo que havia nela estava seguro, segundo o costume dos sidônios, em paz e confiado. Nenhuma autoridade havia que, por qualquer coisa, o oprimisse; também estava longe dos sidônios e não tinha trato com nenhuma outra gente.
8 Então, voltaram a seus irmãos, a Zorá e a Estaol; e estes lhes perguntaram: Que nos dizeis?
9 Eles disseram: Disponde-vos e subamos contra eles; porque examinamos a terra, e eis que é muito boa. Estais aí parados? Não vos demoreis em sair para ocupardes a terra.
10 Quando lá chegardes, achareis um povo confiado, e a terra é ampla; porque Deus vo-la entregou nas mãos; é um lugar em que não há falta de coisa alguma que há na terra.
11 Então, partiram dali, da tribo dos danitas, de Zorá e de Estaol, seiscentos homens armados de suas armas de guerra.
12 Subiram e acamparam-se em Quiriate-Jearim, em Judá; pelo que chamaram a este lugar Maané-Dã, até ao dia de hoje; está por detrás de Quiriate-Jearim.
13 Dali, passaram à região montanhosa de Efraim e chegaram até à casa de Mica.
14 Os cinco homens que foram espiar a terra de Laís disseram a seus irmãos: Sabeis vós que, naquelas casas, há uma estola sacerdotal, e ídolos do lar, e uma imagem de escultura, e uma de fundição? Vede, pois, o que haveis de fazer.
15 Então, foram para lá, e chegaram à casa do moço, o levita, em casa de Mica, e o saudaram.
16 Os seiscentos homens que eram dos filhos de Dã, armados de suas armas de guerra, ficaram à entrada da porta.
17 Porém, subindo os cinco homens que foram espiar a terra, entraram e apanharam a imagem de escultura, a estola sacerdotal, os ídolos do lar e a imagem de fundição, ficando o sacerdote em pé à entrada da porta, com os seiscentos homens que estavam armados com as armas de guerra.
18 Entrando eles, pois, na casa de Mica e tomando a imagem de escultura, a estola sacerdotal, os ídolos do lar e a imagem de fundição, disse-lhes o sacerdote: Que estais fazendo?
19 Eles lhe disseram: Cala-te, e põe a mão na boca, e vem conosco, e sê-nos por pai e sacerdote. Ser-te-á melhor seres sacerdote da casa de um só homem do que seres sacerdote de uma tribo e de uma família em Israel?
20 Então, se alegrou o coração do sacerdote, tomou a estola sacerdotal, os ídolos do lar e a imagem de escultura e entrou no meio do povo.
21 Assim, viraram e, tendo posto diante de si os meninos, o gado e seus bens, partiram.
22 Estando já longe da casa de Mica, reuniram-se os homens que estavam nas casas junto à dele e alcançaram os filhos de Dã.
23 E clamaram após eles, os quais, voltando-se, disseram a Mica: Que tens, que convocaste esse povo?
24 Respondeu-lhes: Os deuses que eu fiz me tomastes e também o sacerdote e vos fostes; que mais me resta? Como, pois, me perguntais: Que é o que tens?
25 Porém os filhos de Dã lhe disseram: Não nos faças ouvir a tua voz, para que, porventura, homens de ânimo amargoso não se lancem sobre ti, e tu percas a tua vida e a vida dos da tua casa.
26 Assim, prosseguiram o seu caminho os filhos de Dã; e Mica, vendo que eram mais fortes do que ele, voltou-se e tornou para sua casa.
27 Levaram eles o que Mica havia feito e o sacerdote que tivera, e chegaram a Laís, a um povo em paz e confiado, e os feriram a fio de espada, e queimaram a cidade.
28 Ninguém houve que os livrasse, porquanto estavam longe de Sidom e não tinham trato com ninguém; a cidade estava no vale junto a Bete-Reobe. Reedificaram a cidade, habitaram nela
29 e lhe chamaram Dã, segundo o nome de Dã, seu pai, que nascera a Israel; porém, outrora, o nome desta cidade era Laís.
30 Os filhos de Dã levantaram para si aquela imagem de escultura; e Jônatas, filho de Gérson, o filho de Manassés, ele e seus filhos foram sacerdotes da tribo dos danitas até ao dia do cativeiro do povo.
31 Assim, pois, a imagem de escultura feita por Mica estabeleceram para si todos os dias que a Casa de Deus esteve em Siló.
18 In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel. 2 And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there. 3 When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here? 4 And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest. 5 And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous. 6 And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the Lord is your way wherein ye go. 7 Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man. 8 And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye? 9 And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land. 10 When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth. 11 And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war. 12 And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjathjearim. 13 And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah. 14 Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do. 15 And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him. 16 And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate. 17 And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war. 18 And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? 19 And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? 20 And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people. 21 So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them. 22 And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan. 23 And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company? 24 And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee? 25 And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household. 26 And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house. 27 And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire. 28 And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein. 29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first. 30 And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. 31 And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.

Atos 22
1 Irmãos e pais, ouvi, agora, a minha defesa perante vós.
2 Quando ouviram que lhes falava em língua hebraica, guardaram ainda maior silêncio. E continuou:
3 Eu sou judeu, nasci em Tarso da Cilícia, mas criei-me nesta cidade e aqui fui instruído aos pés de Gamaliel, segundo a exatidão da lei de nossos antepassados, sendo zeloso para com Deus, assim como todos vós o sois no dia de hoje.
4 Persegui este Caminho até à morte, prendendo e metendo em cárceres homens e mulheres,
5 de que são testemunhas o sumo sacerdote e todos os anciãos. Destes, recebi cartas para os irmãos; e ia para Damasco, no propósito de trazer manietados para Jerusalém os que também lá estivessem, para serem punidos.
6 Ora, aconteceu que, indo de caminho e já perto de Damasco, quase ao meio-dia, repentinamente, grande luz do céu brilhou ao redor de mim.
7 Então, caí por terra, ouvindo uma voz que me dizia: Saulo, Saulo, por que me persegues?
8 Perguntei: quem és tu, Senhor? Ao que me respondeu: Eu sou Jesus, o Nazareno, a quem tu persegues.
9 Os que estavam comigo viram a luz, sem, contudo, perceberem o sentido da voz de quem falava comigo.
10 Então, perguntei: que farei, Senhor? E o Senhor me disse: Levanta-te, entra em Damasco, pois ali te dirão acerca de tudo o que te é ordenado fazer.
11 Tendo ficado cego por causa do fulgor daquela luz, guiado pela mão dos que estavam comigo, cheguei a Damasco.
12 Um homem, chamado Ananias, piedoso conforme a lei, tendo bom testemunho de todos os judeus que ali moravam,
13 veio procurar-me e, pondo-se junto a mim, disse: Saulo, irmão, recebe novamente a vista. Nessa mesma hora, recobrei a vista e olhei para ele.
14 Então, ele disse: O Deus de nossos pais, de antemão, te escolheu para conheceres a sua vontade, veres o Justo e ouvires uma voz da sua própria boca,
15 porque terás de ser sua testemunha diante de todos os homens, das coisas que tens visto e ouvido.
16 E agora, por que te demoras? Levanta-te, recebe o batismo e lava os teus pecados, invocando o nome dele.
17 Tendo eu voltado para Jerusalém, enquanto orava no templo, sobreveio-me um êxtase,
18 e vi aquele que falava comigo: Apressa-te e sai logo de Jerusalém, porque não receberão o teu testemunho a meu respeito.
19 Eu disse: Senhor, eles bem sabem que eu encerrava em prisão e, nas sinagogas, açoitava os que criam em ti.
20 Quando se derramava o sangue de Estêvão, tua testemunha, eu também estava presente, consentia nisso e até guardei as vestes dos que o matavam.
21 Mas ele me disse: Vai, porque eu te enviarei para longe, aos gentios.
22 Ouviram-no até essa palavra e, então, gritaram, dizendo: Tira tal homem da terra, porque não convém que ele viva!
23 Ora, estando eles gritando, arrojando de si as suas capas, atirando poeira para os ares,
24 ordenou o comandante que Paulo fosse recolhido à fortaleza e que, sob açoite, fosse interrogado para saber por que motivo assim clamavam contra ele.
25 Quando o estavam amarrando com correias, disse Paulo ao centurião presente: Ser-vos-á, porventura, lícito açoitar um cidadão romano, sem estar condenado?
26 Ouvindo isto, o centurião procurou o comandante e lhe disse: Que estás para fazer? Porque este homem é cidadão romano.
27 Vindo o comandante, perguntou a Paulo: Dize-me: és tu romano? Ele disse: Sou.
28 Respondeu-lhe o comandante: A mim me custou grande soma de dinheiro este título de cidadão. Disse Paulo: Pois eu o tenho por direito de nascimento.
29 Imediatamente, se afastaram os que estavam para o inquirir com açoites. O próprio comandante sentiu-se receoso quando soube que Paulo era romano, porque o mandara amarrar.
30 No dia seguinte, querendo certificar-se dos motivos por que vinha ele sendo acusado pelos judeus, soltou-o, e ordenou que se reunissem os principais sacerdotes e todo o Sinédrio, e, mandando trazer Paulo, apresentou-o perante eles.
22 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.
2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,) 3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. 6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. 7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. 9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. 10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. 11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus. 12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. 17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; 18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. 19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: 20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him. 21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. 22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. 23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air, 24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him. 25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned? 26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman. 27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea. 28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born. 29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him. 30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

Jeremias 32
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do SENHOR, no ano décimo de Zedequias, rei de Judá, ou décimo oitavo de Nabucodonosor.
2 Ora, nesse tempo o exército do rei da Babilônia cercava Jerusalém; Jeremias, o profeta, estava encarcerado no pátio da guarda que estava na casa do rei de Judá.
3 Pois Zedequias, rei de Judá, o havia encerrado, dizendo: Por que profetizas tu que o SENHOR disse que entregaria esta cidade nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, e ele a tomaria;
4 que Zedequias, rei de Judá, não se livraria das mãos dos caldeus, mas infalivelmente seria entregue nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, e com ele falaria boca a boca, e o veria face a face;
5 e que ele levaria Zedequias para a Babilônia, onde estaria até que o SENHOR se lembrasse dele, como este disse; e, ainda que pelejásseis contra os caldeus, não seríeis bem sucedidos?
6 Disse, pois, Jeremias: Veio a mim a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
7 Eis que Hananel, filho de teu tio Salum, virá a ti, dizendo: Compra o meu campo que está em Anatote, pois a ti, a quem pertence o direito de resgate, compete comprá-lo.
8 Veio, pois, a mim, segundo a palavra do SENHOR, Hananel, filho de meu tio, ao pátio da guarda e me disse: Compra agora o meu campo que está em Anatote, na terra de Benjamim; porque teu é o direito de posse e de resgate; compra-o. Então, entendi que isto era a palavra do SENHOR.
9 Comprei, pois, de Hananel, filho de meu tio, o campo que está em Anatote; e lhe pesei o dinheiro, dezessete siclos de prata.
10 Assinei a escritura, fechei-a com selo, chamei testemunhas e pesei-lhe o dinheiro numa balança.
11 Tomei a escritura da compra, tanto a selada, segundo mandam a lei e os estatutos, como a cópia aberta;
12 dei-a a Baruque, filho de Nerias, filho de Maaséias, na presença de Hananel, filho de meu tio, e perante as testemunhas, que assinaram a escritura da compra, e na presença de todos os judeus que se assentavam no pátio da guarda.
13 Perante eles dei ordem a Baruque, dizendo:
14 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Toma esta escritura, esta escritura da compra, tanto a selada como a aberta, e mete-as num vaso de barro, para que se possam conservar por muitos dias;
15 porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ainda se comprarão casas, campos e vinhas nesta terra.
16 Depois que dei a escritura da compra a Baruque, filho de Nerias, orei ao SENHOR, dizendo:
17 Ah! SENHOR Deus, eis que fizeste os céus e a terra com o teu grande poder e com o teu braço estendido; coisa alguma te é demasiadamente maravilhosa.
18 Tu usas de misericórdia para com milhares e retribuis a iniqüidade dos pais nos filhos; tu és o grande, o poderoso Deus, cujo nome é o SENHOR dos Exércitos,
19 grande em conselho e magnífico em obras; porque os teus olhos estão abertos sobre todos os caminhos dos filhos dos homens, para dar a cada um segundo o seu proceder, segundo o fruto das suas obras.
20 Tu puseste sinais e maravilhas na terra do Egito até ao dia de hoje, tanto em Israel como entre outros homens; e te fizeste um nome, qual o que tens neste dia.
21 Tiraste o teu povo de Israel da terra do Egito, com sinais e maravilhas, com mão poderosa e braço estendido e com grande espanto;
22 e lhe deste esta terra, que com juramento prometeste a seus pais, terra que mana leite e mel.
23 Entraram nela e dela tomaram posse, mas não obedeceram à tua voz, nem andaram na tua lei; de tudo o que lhes mandaste que fizessem, nada fizeram; pelo que trouxeste sobre eles todo este mal.
24 Eis aqui as trincheiras já atingem a cidade, para ser tomada; já está a cidade entregue nas mãos dos caldeus, que pelejam contra ela, pela espada, pela fome e pela peste. O que disseste aconteceu; e tu mesmo o vês.
25 Contudo, ó SENHOR Deus, tu me disseste: Compra o campo por dinheiro e chama testemunhas, embora já esteja a cidade entregue nas mãos dos caldeus.
26 Então, veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
27 Eis que eu sou o SENHOR, o Deus de todos os viventes; acaso, haveria coisa demasiadamente maravilhosa para mim?
28 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que entrego esta cidade nas mãos dos caldeus, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e ele a tomará.
29 Os caldeus, que pelejam contra esta cidade, entrarão nela, porão fogo a esta cidade e queimarão as casas sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a Baal e ofereceram libações a outros deuses, para me provocarem à ira.
30 Porque os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá não fizeram senão mal perante mim, desde a sua mocidade; porque os filhos de Israel não fizeram senão provocar-me à ira com as obras das suas mãos, diz o SENHOR.
31 Porque para minha ira e para meu furor me tem sido esta cidade, desde o dia em que a edificaram e até ao dia de hoje, para que eu a removesse da minha presença,
32 por causa de toda a maldade que fizeram os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá, para me provocarem à ira, eles, os seus reis, os seus príncipes, os seus sacerdotes e os seus profetas, como também os homens de Judá e os moradores de Jerusalém.
33 Viraram-me as costas e não o rosto; ainda que eu, começando de madrugada, os ensinava, eles não deram ouvidos, para receberem a advertência.
34 Antes, puseram as suas abominações na casa que se chama pelo meu nome, para a profanarem.
35 Edificaram os altos de Baal, que estão no vale do filho de Hinom, para queimarem a seus filhos e a suas filhas a Moloque, o que nunca lhes ordenei, nem me passou pela mente fizessem tal abominação, para fazerem pecar a Judá.
36 Agora, pois, assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, acerca desta cidade, da qual vós dizeis: Já está entregue nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, pela espada, pela fome e pela peste.
37 Eis que eu os congregarei de todas as terras, para onde os lancei na minha ira, no meu furor e na minha grande indignação; tornarei a trazê-los a este lugar e farei que nele habitem seguramente.
38 Eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus.
39 Dar-lhes-ei um só coração e um só caminho, para que me temam todos os dias, para seu bem e bem de seus filhos.
40 Farei com eles aliança eterna, segundo a qual não deixarei de lhes fazer o bem; e porei o meu temor no seu coração, para que nunca se apartem de mim.
41 Alegrar-me-ei por causa deles e lhes farei bem; plantá-los-ei firmemente nesta terra, de todo o meu coração e de toda a minha alma.
42 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Assim como fiz vir sobre este povo todo este grande mal, assim lhes trarei todo o bem que lhes estou prometendo.
43 Comprar-se-ão campos nesta terra, da qual vós dizeis: Está deserta, sem homens nem animais; está entregue nas mãos dos caldeus.
44 Comprarão campos por dinheiro, e lavrarão as escrituras, e as fecharão com selos, e chamarão testemunhas na terra de Benjamim, nos contornos de Jerusalém, nas cidades de Judá, nas cidades da região montanhosa, nas cidades das planícies e nas cidades do Sul; porque lhes restaurarei a sorte, diz o SENHOR.
32 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar. 2 For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house. 3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; 4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes; 5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the Lord: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper. 6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it. 8 So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the Lord, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord. 9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver. 10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances. 11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open: 12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison. 13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying, 14 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days. 15 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land. 16 Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the Lord, saying, 17 Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: 18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name, 19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: 20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; 21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; 22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; 23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them: 24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it. 25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord God, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 26 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying, 27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? 28 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the Lord. 31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face, 32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction. 34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. 36 And now therefore thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. 42 For thus saith the Lord; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them. 43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the Lord.

Juízes 17
1 Havia um homem da região montanhosa de Efraim cujo nome era Mica,
2 o qual disse a sua mãe: Os mil e cem siclos de prata que te foram tirados, por cuja causa deitavas maldições e de que também me falaste, eis que esse dinheiro está comigo; eu o tomei. Então, lhe disse a mãe: Bendito do SENHOR seja meu filho!
3 Assim, restituiu os mil e cem siclos de prata a sua mãe, que disse: De minha mão dedico este dinheiro ao SENHOR para meu filho, para fazer uma imagem de escultura e uma de fundição, de sorte que, agora, eu to devolvo.
4 Porém ele restituiu o dinheiro a sua mãe, que tomou duzentos siclos de prata e os deu ao ourives, o qual fez deles uma imagem de escultura e uma de fundição; e a imagem esteve em casa de Mica.
5 E, assim, este homem, Mica, veio a ter uma casa de deuses; fez uma estola sacerdotal e ídolos do lar e consagrou a um de seus filhos, para que lhe fosse por sacerdote.
6 Naqueles dias, não havia rei em Israel; cada qual fazia o que achava mais reto.
7 Havia um moço de Belém de Judá, da tribo de Judá, que era levita e se demorava ali.
8 Esse homem partiu da cidade de Belém de Judá para ficar onde melhor lhe parecesse. Seguindo, pois, o seu caminho, chegou à região montanhosa de Efraim, até à casa de Mica.
9 Perguntou-lhe Mica: Donde vens? Ele lhe respondeu: Sou levita de Belém de Judá e vou ficar onde melhor me parecer.
10 Então, lhe disse Mica: Fica comigo e sê-me por pai e sacerdote; e cada ano te darei dez siclos de prata, o vestuário e o sustento. O levita entrou
11 e consentiu em ficar com aquele homem; e o moço lhe foi como um de seus filhos.
12 Consagrou Mica ao moço levita, que lhe passou a ser sacerdote; e ficou em casa de Mica.
13 Então, disse Mica: Sei, agora, que o SENHOR me fará bem, porquanto tenho um levita por sacerdote.
17 And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah. 2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my son. 3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee. 4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah. 5 And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. 6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. 7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there. 8 And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. 9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place. 10 And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in. 11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons. 12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah. 13 Then said Micah, Now know I that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Atos 21
1 Depois de nos apartarmos, fizemo-nos à vela e, correndo em direitura, chegamos a Cós; no dia seguinte, a Rodes, e dali, a Pátara.
2 Achando um navio que ia para a Fenícia, embarcamos nele, seguindo viagem.
3 Quando Chipre já estava à vista, deixando-a à esquerda, navegamos para a Síria e chegamos a Tiro; pois o navio devia ser descarregado ali.
4 Encontrando os discípulos, permanecemos lá durante sete dias; e eles, movidos pelo Espírito, recomendavam a Paulo que não fosse a Jerusalém.
5 Passados aqueles dias, tendo-nos retirado, prosseguimos viagem, acompanhados por todos, cada um com sua mulher e filhos, até fora da cidade; ajoelhados na praia, oramos.
6 E, despedindo-nos uns dos outros, então, embarcamos; e eles voltaram para casa.
7 Quanto a nós, concluindo a viagem de Tiro, chegamos a Ptolemaida, onde saudamos os irmãos, passando um dia com eles.
8 No dia seguinte, partimos e fomos para Cesaréia; e, entrando na casa de Filipe, o evangelista, que era um dos sete, ficamos com ele.
9 Tinha este quatro filhas donzelas, que profetizavam.
10 Demorando-nos ali alguns dias, desceu da Judéia um profeta chamado Ágabo;
11 e, vindo ter conosco, tomando o cinto de Paulo, ligando com ele os próprios pés e mãos, declarou: Isto diz o Espírito Santo: Assim os judeus, em Jerusalém, farão ao dono deste cinto e o entregarão nas mãos dos gentios.
12 Quando ouvimos estas palavras, tanto nós como os daquele lugar, rogamos a Paulo que não subisse a Jerusalém.
13 Então, ele respondeu: Que fazeis chorando e quebrantando-me o coração? Pois estou pronto não só para ser preso, mas até para morrer em Jerusalém pelo nome do Senhor Jesus.
14 Como, porém, não o persuadimos, conformados, dissemos: Faça-se a vontade do Senhor!
15 Passados aqueles dias, tendo feito os preparativos, subimos para Jerusalém;
16 e alguns dos discípulos também vieram de Cesaréia conosco, trazendo consigo Mnasom, natural de Chipre, velho discípulo, com quem nos deveríamos hospedar.
17 Tendo nós chegado a Jerusalém, os irmãos nos receberam com alegria.
18 No dia seguinte, Paulo foi conosco encontrar-se com Tiago, e todos os presbíteros se reuniram.
19 E, tendo-os saudado, contou minuciosamente o que Deus fizera entre os gentios por seu ministério.
20 Ouvindo-o, deram eles glória a Deus e lhe disseram: Bem vês, irmão, quantas dezenas de milhares há entre os judeus que creram, e todos são zelosos da lei;
21 e foram informados a teu respeito que ensinas todos os judeus entre os gentios a apostatarem de Moisés, dizendo-lhes que não devem circuncidar os filhos, nem andar segundo os costumes da lei.
22 Que se há de fazer, pois? Certamente saberão da tua chegada.
23 Faze, portanto, o que te vamos dizer: estão entre nós quatro homens que, voluntariamente, aceitaram voto;
24 toma-os, purifica-te com eles e faze a despesa necessária para que raspem a cabeça; e saberão todos que não é verdade o que se diz a teu respeito; e que, pelo contrário, andas também, tu mesmo, guardando a lei.
25 Quanto aos gentios que creram, já lhes transmitimos decisões para que se abstenham das coisas sacrificadas a ídolos, do sangue, da carne de animais sufocados e das relações sexuais ilícitas.
26 Então, Paulo, tomando aqueles homens, no dia seguinte, tendo-se purificado com eles, entrou no templo, acertando o cumprimento dos dias da purificação, até que se fizesse a oferta em favor de cada um deles.
27 Quando já estavam por findar os sete dias, os judeus vindos da Ásia, tendo visto Paulo no templo, alvoroçaram todo o povo e o agarraram,
28 gritando: Israelitas, socorro! Este é o homem que por toda parte ensina todos a serem contra o povo, contra a lei e contra este lugar; ainda mais, introduziu até gregos no templo e profanou este recinto sagrado.
29 Pois, antes, tinham visto Trófimo, o efésio, em sua companhia na cidade e julgavam que Paulo o introduzira no templo.
30 Agitou-se toda a cidade, havendo concorrência do povo; e, agarrando a Paulo, arrastaram-no para fora do templo, e imediatamente foram fechadas as portas.
31 Procurando eles matá-lo, chegou ao conhecimento do comandante da força que toda a Jerusalém estava amotinada.
32 Então, este, levando logo soldados e centuriões, correu para o meio do povo. Ao verem chegar o comandante e os soldados, cessaram de espancar Paulo.
33 Aproximando-se o comandante, apoderou-se de Paulo e ordenou que fosse acorrentado com duas cadeias, perguntando quem era e o que havia feito.
34 Na multidão, uns gritavam de um modo; outros, de outro; não podendo ele, porém, saber a verdade por causa do tumulto, ordenou que Paulo fosse recolhido à fortaleza.
35 Ao chegar às escadas, foi preciso que os soldados o carregassem, por causa da violência da multidão,
36 pois a massa de povo o seguia gritando: Mata-o!
37 E, quando Paulo ia sendo recolhido à fortaleza, disse ao comandante: É-me permitido dizer-te alguma coisa? Respondeu ele: Sabes o grego?
38 Não és tu, porventura, o egípcio que, há tempos, sublevou e conduziu ao deserto quatro mil sicários?
39 Respondeu-lhe Paulo: Eu sou judeu, natural de Tarso, cidade não insignificante da Cilícia; e rogo-te que me permitas falar ao povo.
40 Obtida a permissão, Paulo, em pé na escada, fez com a mão sinal ao povo. Fez-se grande silêncio, e ele falou em língua hebraica, dizendo:
21 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth. 3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden. 4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem. 5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed. 6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again. 7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day. 8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. 9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. 10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. 12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done. 15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem. 16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge. 17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. 18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present. 19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. 20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law: 21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs. 22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come. 23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them; 24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. 25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. 26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them. 27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him, 28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place. 29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.) 30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut. 31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. 32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul. 33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done. 34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle. 35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people. 36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him. 37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek? 38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers? 39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people. 40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

Jeremias 30
1 Palavra que do SENHOR veio a Jeremias, dizendo:
2 Assim fala o SENHOR, Deus de Israel: Escreve num livro todas as palavras que eu disse.
3 Porque eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que mudarei a sorte do meu povo de Israel e de Judá, diz o SENHOR; fá-los-ei voltar para a terra que dei a seus pais, e a possuirão.
4 São estas as palavras que disse o SENHOR acerca de Israel e de Judá:
5 Assim diz o SENHOR: Ouvimos uma voz de tremor e de temor e não de paz.
6 Perguntai, pois, e vede se, acaso, um homem tem dores de parto. Por que vejo, pois, a cada homem com as mãos na cintura, como a que está dando à luz? E por que se tornaram pálidos todos os rostos?
7 Ah! Que grande é aquele dia, e não há outro semelhante! É tempo de angústia para Jacó; ele, porém, será livre dela.
8 Naquele dia, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, eu quebrarei o seu jugo de sobre o teu pescoço e quebrarei os teus canzis; e nunca mais estrangeiros farão escravo este povo,
9 que servirá ao SENHOR, seu Deus, como também a Davi, seu rei, que lhe levantarei.
10 Não temas, pois, servo meu, Jacó, diz o SENHOR, nem te espantes, ó Israel; pois eis que te livrarei das terras de longe e à tua descendência, da terra do exílio; Jacó voltará e ficará tranqüilo e em sossego; e não haverá quem o atemorize.
11 Porque eu sou contigo, diz o SENHOR, para salvar-te; por isso, darei cabo de todas as nações entre as quais te espalhei; de ti, porém, não darei cabo, mas castigar-te-ei em justa medida e de todo não te inocentarei.
12 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Teu mal é incurável, a tua chaga é dolorosa.
13 Não há quem defenda a tua causa; para a tua ferida não tens remédios nem emplasto.
14 Todos os teus amantes se esqueceram de ti, já não perguntam por ti; porque te feri com ferida de inimigo e com castigo de cruel, por causa da grandeza da tua maldade e da multidão de teus pecados.
15 Por que gritas por motivo da tua ferida? Tua dor é incurável. Por causa da grandeza de tua maldade e da multidão de teus pecados é que eu fiz estas coisas.
16 Por isso, todos os que te devoram serão devorados; e todos os teus adversários serão levados, cada um deles para o cativeiro; os que te despojam serão despojados, e entregarei ao saque todos os que te saqueiam.
17 Porque te restaurarei a saúde e curarei as tuas chagas, diz o SENHOR; pois te chamaram a repudiada, dizendo: É Sião, já ninguém pergunta por ela.
18 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que restaurarei a sorte das tendas de Jacó e me compadecerei das suas moradas; a cidade será reedificada sobre o seu montão de ruínas, e o palácio será habitado como outrora.
19 Sairão deles ações de graças e o júbilo dos que se alegram. Multiplicá-los-ei, e não serão diminuídos; glorificá-los-ei, e não serão apoucados.
20 Seus filhos serão como na antiguidade, e a sua congregação será firmada diante de mim, e castigarei todos os seus opressores.
21 O seu príncipe procederá deles, do meio deles sairá o que há de reinar; fá-lo-ei aproximar, e ele se chegará a mim; pois quem de si mesmo ousaria aproximar-se de mim? – diz o SENHOR.
22 Vós sereis o meu povo, eu serei o vosso Deus.
23 Eis a tempestade do SENHOR! O furor saiu, e um redemoinho tempestuou sobre a cabeça dos perversos.
24 Não voltará atrás o brasume da ira do SENHOR, até que tenha executado e cumprido os desígnios do seu coração. Nos últimos dias, entendereis isto.
30 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Thus speaketh the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book. 3 For, lo, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the Lord: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. 4 And these are the words that the Lord spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5 For thus saith the Lord; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6 Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? 7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. 8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: 9 But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. 10 Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. 11 For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet I will not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished. 12 For thus saith the Lord, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous. 13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines. 14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased. 15 Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee. 16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. 17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after. 18 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof. 19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. 20 Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them. 21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord. 22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 23 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked. 24 The fierce anger of the Lord shall not return, until he hath done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

Jeremias 31
1 Naquele tempo, diz o SENHOR, serei o Deus de todas as tribos de Israel, e elas serão o meu povo.
2 Assim diz o SENHOR: O povo que se livrou da espada logrou graça no deserto. Eu irei e darei descanso a Israel.
3 De longe se me deixou ver o SENHOR, dizendo: Com amor eterno eu te amei; por isso, com benignidade te atraí.
4 Ainda te edificarei, e serás edificada, ó virgem de Israel! Ainda serás adornada com os teus adufes e sairás com o coro dos que dançam.
5 Ainda plantarás vinhas nos montes de Samaria; plantarão os plantadores e gozarão dos frutos.
6 Porque haverá um dia em que gritarão os atalaias na região montanhosa de Efraim: Levantai-vos, e subamos a Sião, ao SENHOR, nosso Deus!
7 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Cantai com alegria a Jacó, exultai por causa da cabeça das nações; proclamai, cantai louvores e dizei: Salva, SENHOR, o teu povo, o restante de Israel.
8 Eis que os trarei da terra do Norte e os congregarei das extremidades da terra; e, entre eles, também os cegos e aleijados, as mulheres grávidas e as de parto; em grande congregação, voltarão para aqui.
9 Virão com choro, e com súplicas os levarei; guiá-los-ei aos ribeiros de águas, por caminho reto em que não tropeçarão; porque sou pai para Israel, e Efraim é o meu primogênito.
10 Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, ó nações, e anunciai nas terras longínquas do mar, e dizei: Aquele que espalhou a Israel o congregará e o guardará, como o pastor, ao seu rebanho.
11 Porque o SENHOR redimiu a Jacó e o livrou da mão do que era mais forte do que ele.
12 Hão de vir e exultar na altura de Sião, radiantes de alegria por causa dos bens do SENHOR, do cereal, do vinho, do azeite, dos cordeiros e dos bezerros; a sua alma será como um jardim regado, e nunca mais desfalecerão.
13 Então, a virgem se alegrará na dança, e também os jovens e os velhos; tornarei o seu pranto em júbilo e os consolarei; transformarei em regozijo a sua tristeza.
14 Saciarei de gordura a alma dos sacerdotes, e o meu povo se fartará com a minha bondade, diz o SENHOR.
15 Assim diz o SENHOR: Ouviu-se um clamor em Ramá, pranto e grande lamento; era Raquel chorando por seus filhos e inconsolável por causa deles, porque já não existem.
16 Assim diz o SENHOR: Reprime a tua voz de choro e as lágrimas de teus olhos; porque há recompensa para as tuas obras, diz o SENHOR, pois os teus filhos voltarão da terra do inimigo.
17 Há esperança para o teu futuro, diz o SENHOR, porque teus filhos voltarão para os seus territórios.
18 Bem ouvi que Efraim se queixava, dizendo: Castigaste-me, e fui castigado como novilho ainda não domado; converte-me, e serei convertido, porque tu és o SENHOR, meu Deus.
19 Na verdade, depois que me converti, arrependi-me; depois que fui instruído, bati no peito; fiquei envergonhado, confuso, porque levei o opróbrio da minha mocidade.
20 Não é Efraim meu precioso filho, filho das minhas delícias? Pois tantas vezes quantas falo contra ele, tantas vezes ternamente me lembro dele; comove-se por ele o meu coração, deveras me compadecerei dele, diz o SENHOR.
21 Põe-te marcos, finca postes que te guiem, presta atenção na vereda, no caminho por onde passaste; regressa, ó virgem de Israel, regressa às tuas cidades.
22 Até quando andarás errante, ó filha rebelde? Porque o SENHOR criou coisa nova na terra: a mulher infiel virá a requestar um homem.
23 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Ainda dirão esta palavra na terra de Judá e nas suas cidades, quando eu lhe restaurar a sorte: O SENHOR te abençoe, ó morada de justiça, ó santo monte!
24 Nela, habitarão Judá e todas as suas cidades juntamente, como também os lavradores e os que pastoreiam os rebanhos.
25 Porque satisfiz à alma cansada, e saciei a toda alma desfalecida.
26 Nisto, despertei e olhei; e o meu sono fora doce para mim.
27 Eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que semearei a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá com a semente de homens e de animais.
28 Como velei sobre eles, para arrancar, para derribar, para subverter, para destruir e para afligir, assim velarei sobre eles para edificar e para plantar, diz o SENHOR.
29 Naqueles dias, já não dirão: Os pais comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos é que se embotaram.
30 Cada um, porém, será morto pela sua iniqüidade; de todo homem que comer uvas verdes os dentes se embotarão.
31 Eis aí vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que firmarei nova aliança com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá.
32 Não conforme a aliança que fiz com seus pais, no dia em que os tomei pela mão, para os tirar da terra do Egito; porquanto eles anularam a minha aliança, não obstante eu os haver desposado, diz o SENHOR.
33 Porque esta é a aliança que firmarei com a casa de Israel, depois daqueles dias, diz o SENHOR: Na mente, lhes imprimirei as minhas leis, também no coração lhas inscreverei; eu serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo.
34 Não ensinará jamais cada um ao seu próximo, nem cada um ao seu irmão, dizendo: Conhece ao SENHOR, porque todos me conhecerão, desde o menor até ao maior deles, diz o SENHOR. Pois perdoarei as suas iniquidades e dos seus pecados jamais me lembrarei.
35 Assim diz o SENHOR, que dá o sol para a luz do dia e as leis fixas à lua e às estrelas para a luz da noite, que agita o mar e faz bramir as suas ondas; SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
36 Se falharem estas leis fixas diante de mim, diz o SENHOR, deixará também a descendência de Israel de ser uma nação diante de mim para sempre.
37 Assim diz o SENHOR: Se puderem ser medidos os céus lá em cima e sondados os fundamentos da terra cá embaixo, também eu rejeitarei toda a descendência de Israel, por tudo quanto fizeram, diz o SENHOR.
38 Eis que vêm dias, diz o SENHOR, em que esta cidade será reedificada para o SENHOR, desde a Torre de Hananel até à Porta da Esquina.
39 O cordel de medir estender-se-á para diante, até ao outeiro de Garebe, e virar-se-á para Goa.
40 Todo o vale dos cadáveres e da cinza e todos os campos até ao ribeiro Cedrom, até à esquina da Porta dos Cavalos para o oriente, serão consagrados ao SENHOR. Esta Jerusalém jamais será desarraigada ou destruída.
31 At the same time, saith the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. 2 Thus saith the Lord, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest. 3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 4 Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. 5 Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God. 7 For thus saith the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. 9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. 10 Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. 11 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. 12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. 13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord. 15 Thus saith the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. 16 Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own border. 18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God. 19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the Lord. 21 Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities. 22 How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. 23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The Lord bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. 24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks. 25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me. 27 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast. 28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the Lord. 29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. 31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. 35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord. 38 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the city shall be built to the Lord from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. 39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath. 40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the Lord; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
