Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 4 Não vos virareis para os ídolos, nem vos fareis deuses de fundição. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 5 Quando oferecerdes sacrifício pacífico ao SENHOR, oferecê-lo-eis para que sejais aceitos. 6 No dia em que o oferecerdes e no dia seguinte, se comerá; mas o que sobejar, ao terceiro dia, será queimado. 7 Se alguma coisa dele for comida ao terceiro dia, é abominação; não será aceita. 8 Qualquer que o comer levará a sua iniqüidade, porquanto profanou coisa santa do SENHOR; por isso, será eliminado do seu povo. 9 Quando também segares a messe da tua terra, o canto do teu campo não segarás totalmente, nem as espigas caídas colherás da tua messe. 10 Não rebuscarás a tua vinha, nem colherás os bagos caídos da tua vinha; deixá-los-ás ao pobre e ao estrangeiro. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 11 Não furtareis, nem mentireis, nem usareis de falsidade cada um com o seu próximo; 12 nem jurareis falso pelo meu nome, pois profanaríeis o nome do vosso Deus. Eu sou o SENHOR. 13 Não oprimirás o teu próximo, nem o roubarás; a paga do jornaleiro não ficará contigo até pela manhã. 14 Não amaldiçoarás o surdo, nem porás tropeço diante do cego; mas temerás o teu Deus. Eu sou o SENHOR. 15 Não farás injustiça no juízo, nem favorecendo o pobre, nem comprazendo ao grande; com justiça julgarás o teu próximo. 16 Não andarás como mexeriqueiro entre o teu povo; não atentarás contra a vida do teu próximo. Eu sou o SENHOR. 17 Não aborrecerás teu irmão no teu íntimo; mas repreenderás o teu próximo e, por causa dele, não levarás sobre ti pecado. 18 Não te vingarás, nem guardarás ira contra os filhos do teu povo; mas amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo. Eu sou o SENHOR. 19 Guardarás os meus estatutos; não permitirás que os teus animais se ajuntem com os de espécie diversa; no teu campo, não semearás semente de duas espécies; nem usarás roupa de dois estofos misturados. 20 Se alguém se deitar com uma mulher, se for escrava desposada com outro homem e não for resgatada, nem se lhe houver dado liberdade, então, serão açoitados; não serão mortos, pois não foi libertada. 21 O homem, como oferta pela sua culpa, trará um carneiro ao SENHOR, à porta da tenda da congregação. 22 Com o carneiro da oferta pela culpa, o sacerdote fará expiação, por ele, perante o SENHOR, pelo pecado que cometeu, e ser-lhe-á perdoado o pecado que cometeu. 23 Quando entrardes na terra e plantardes toda sorte de árvore de comer, ser-vos-á vedado o seu fruto; três anos vos será vedado; dele não se comerá. 24 Porém, no quarto ano, todo o seu fruto será santo, será oferta de louvores ao SENHOR. 25 No quinto ano, comereis fruto dela para que vos faça aumentar a sua produção. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 26 Não comereis coisa alguma com sangue; não agourareis, nem adivinhareis. 27 Não cortareis o cabelo em redondo, nem danificareis as extremidades da barba. 28 Pelos mortos não ferireis a vossa carne; nem fareis marca nenhuma sobre vós. Eu sou o SENHOR. 29 Não contaminarás a tua filha, fazendo-a prostituir-se; para que a terra não se prostitua, nem se encha de maldade. 30 Guardareis os meus sábados e reverenciareis o meu santuário. Eu sou o SENHOR. 31 Não vos voltareis para os necromantes, nem para os adivinhos; não os procureis para serdes contaminados por eles. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 32 Diante das cãs te levantarás, e honrarás a presença do ancião, e temerás o teu Deus. Eu sou o SENHOR. 33 Se o estrangeiro peregrinar na vossa terra, não o oprimireis. 34 Como o natural, será entre vós o estrangeiro que peregrina convosco; amá-lo-eis como a vós mesmos, pois estrangeiros fostes na terra do Egito. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 35 Não cometereis injustiça no juízo, nem na vara, nem no peso, nem na medida. 36 Balanças justas, pesos justos, efa justo e justo him tereis. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus, que vos tirei da terra do Egito. 37 Guardareis todos os meus estatutos e todos os meus juízos e os cumprireis. Eu sou o SENHOR. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy. 3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the Lord your God. 4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God. 5 And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the Lord, ye shall offer it at your own will. 6 It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire. 7 And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted. 8 Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the Lord: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. 10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the Lord your God. 11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another. 12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord. 13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. 14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord. 15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. 16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I am the Lord. 17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord. 19 Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee. 20 And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering. 22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the Lord for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him. 23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 24 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the Lord withal. 25 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the Lord your God. 26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times. 27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. 28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. 29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness. 30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord. 31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God. 32 Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the Lord. 33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. 35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37 Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the Lord. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Salmos 23 1 O SENHOR é o meu pastor; nada me faltará. 2 Ele me faz repousar em pastos verdejantes. Leva-me para junto das águas de descanso; 3 refrigera-me a alma. Guia-me pelas veredas da justiça por amor do seu nome. 4 Ainda que eu ande pelo vale da sombra da morte, não temerei mal nenhum, porque tu estás comigo; o teu bordão e o teu cajado me consolam. 5 Preparas-me uma mesa na presença dos meus adversários, unges-me a cabeça com óleo; o meu cálice transborda. 6 Bondade e misericórdia certamente me seguirão todos os dias da minha vida; e habitarei na Casa do SENHOR para todo o sempre. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Salmos 24 1 Ao SENHOR pertence a terra e tudo o que nela se contém, o mundo e os que nele habitam. 2 Fundou-a ele sobre os mares e sobre as correntes a estabeleceu. 3 Quem subirá ao monte do SENHOR? Quem há de permanecer no seu santo lugar? 4 O que é limpo de mãos e puro de coração, que não entrega a sua alma à falsidade, nem jura dolosamente. 5 Este obterá do SENHOR a bênção e a justiça do Deus da sua salvação. 6 Tal é a geração dos que o buscam, dos que buscam a face do Deus de Jacó. 7 Levantai, ó portas, as vossas cabeças; levantai-vos, ó portais eternos, para que entre o Rei da Glória. 8 Quem é o Rei da Glória? O SENHOR, forte e poderoso, o SENHOR, poderoso nas batalhas. 9 Levantai, ó portas, as vossas cabeças; levantai-vos, ó portais eternos, para que entre o Rei da Glória. 10 Quem é esse Rei da Glória? O SENHOR dos Exércitos, ele é o Rei da Glória. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  24 The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Eu te provarei com a alegria; goza, pois, a felicidade; mas também isso era vaidade. 2 Do riso disse: é loucura; e da alegria: de que serve? 3 Resolvi no meu coração dar-me ao vinho, regendo-me, contudo, pela sabedoria, e entregar-me à loucura, até ver o que melhor seria que fizessem os filhos dos homens debaixo do céu, durante os poucos dias da sua vida. 4 Empreendi grandes obras; edifiquei para mim casas; plantei para mim vinhas. 5 Fiz jardins e pomares para mim e nestes plantei árvores frutíferas de toda espécie. 6 Fiz para mim açudes, para regar com eles o bosque em que reverdeciam as árvores. 7 Comprei servos e servas e tive servos nascidos em casa; também possuí bois e ovelhas, mais do que possuíram todos os que antes de mim viveram em Jerusalém. 8 Amontoei também para mim prata e ouro e tesouros de reis e de províncias; provi-me de cantores e cantoras e das delícias dos filhos dos homens: mulheres e mulheres. 9 Engrandeci-me e sobrepujei a todos os que viveram antes de mim em Jerusalém; perseverou também comigo a minha sabedoria. 10 Tudo quanto desejaram os meus olhos não lhes neguei, nem privei o coração de alegria alguma, pois eu me alegrava com todas as minhas fadigas, e isso era a recompensa de todas elas. 11 Considerei todas as obras que fizeram as minhas mãos, como também o trabalho que eu, com fadigas, havia feito; e eis que tudo era vaidade e correr atrás do vento, e nenhum proveito havia debaixo do sol. 12 Então, passei a considerar a sabedoria, e a loucura, e a estultícia. Que fará o homem que seguir ao rei? O mesmo que outros já fizeram. 13 Então, vi que a sabedoria é mais proveitosa do que a estultícia, quanto a luz traz mais proveito do que as trevas. 14 Os olhos do sábio estão na sua cabeça, mas o estulto anda em trevas; contudo, entendi que o mesmo lhes sucede a ambos. 15 Pelo que disse eu comigo: como acontece ao estulto, assim me sucede a mim; por que, pois, busquei eu mais a sabedoria? Então, disse a mim mesmo que também isso era vaidade. 16 Pois, tanto do sábio como do estulto, a memória não durará para sempre; pois, passados alguns dias, tudo cai no esquecimento. Ah! Morre o sábio, e da mesma sorte, o estulto! 17 Pelo que aborreci a vida, pois me foi penosa a obra que se faz debaixo do sol; sim, tudo é vaidade e correr atrás do vento. 18 Também aborreci todo o meu trabalho, com que me afadiguei debaixo do sol, visto que o seu ganho eu havia de deixar a quem viesse depois de mim. 19 E quem pode dizer se será sábio ou estulto? Contudo, ele terá domínio sobre todo o ganho das minhas fadigas e sabedoria debaixo do sol; também isto é vaidade. 20 Então, me empenhei por que o coração se desesperasse de todo trabalho com que me afadigara debaixo do sol. 21 Porque há homem cujo trabalho é feito com sabedoria, ciência e destreza; contudo, deixará o seu ganho como porção a quem por ele não se esforçou; também isto é vaidade e grande mal. 22 Pois que tem o homem de todo o seu trabalho e da fadiga do seu coração, em que ele anda trabalhando debaixo do sol? 23 Porque todos os seus dias são dores, e o seu trabalho, desgosto; até de noite não descansa o seu coração; também isto é vaidade. 24 Nada há melhor para o homem do que comer, beber e fazer que a sua alma goze o bem do seu trabalho. No entanto, vi também que isto vem da mão de Deus, 25 pois, separado deste, quem pode comer ou quem pode alegrar-se? 26 Porque Deus dá sabedoria, conhecimento e prazer ao homem que lhe agrada; mas ao pecador dá trabalho, para que ele ajunte e amontoe, a fim de dar àquele que agrada a Deus. Também isto é vaidade e correr atrás do vento. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  2 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. 2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? 3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. 4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: 7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. 12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done. 13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. 14 The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. 15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. 16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool. 17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. 19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity. 20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun. 21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. 22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun? 23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity. 24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I? 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. 5 Portanto, os meus estatutos e os meus juízos guardareis; cumprindo-os, o homem viverá por eles. Eu sou o SENHOR. 6 Nenhum homem se chegará a qualquer parenta da sua carne, para lhe descobrir a nudez. Eu sou o SENHOR. 7 Não descobrirás a nudez de teu pai e de tua mãe; ela é tua mãe; não lhe descobrirás a nudez. 8 Não descobrirás a nudez da mulher de teu pai; é nudez de teu pai. 9 A nudez da tua irmã, filha de teu pai ou filha de tua mãe, nascida em casa ou fora de casa, a sua nudez não descobrirás. 10 A nudez da filha do teu filho ou da filha de tua filha, a sua nudez não descobrirás, porque é tua nudez. 11 Não descobrirás a nudez da filha da mulher de teu pai, gerada de teu pai; ela é tua irmã. 12 A nudez da irmã do teu pai não descobrirás; ela é parenta de teu pai. 13 A nudez da irmã de tua mãe não descobrirás; pois ela é parenta de tua mãe. 14 A nudez do irmão de teu pai não descobrirás; não te chegarás à sua mulher; ela é tua tia. 15 A nudez de tua nora não descobrirás; ela é mulher de teu filho; não lhe descobrirás a nudez. 16 A nudez da mulher de teu irmão não descobrirás; é a nudez de teu irmão. 17 A nudez de uma mulher e de sua filha não descobrirás; não tomarás a filha de seu filho, nem a filha de sua filha, para lhe descobrir a nudez; parentes são; maldade é. 18 E não tomarás com tua mulher outra, de sorte que lhe seja rival, descobrindo a sua nudez com ela durante sua vida. 19 Não te chegarás à mulher, para lhe descobrir a nudez, durante a sua menstruação. 20 Nem te deitarás com a mulher de teu próximo, para te contaminares com ela. 21 E da tua descendência não darás nenhum para dedicar-se a Moloque, nem profanarás o nome de teu Deus. Eu sou o SENHOR. 22 Com homem não te deitarás, como se fosse mulher; é abominação. 23 Nem te deitarás com animal, para te contaminares com ele, nem a mulher se porá perante um animal, para ajuntar-se com ele; é confusão. 24 Com nenhuma destas coisas vos contaminareis, porque com todas estas coisas se contaminaram as nações que eu lanço de diante de vós. 25 E a terra se contaminou; e eu visitei nela a sua iniqüidade, e ela vomitou os seus moradores. 26 Porém vós guardareis os meus estatutos e os meus juízos, e nenhuma destas abominações fareis, nem o natural, nem o estrangeiro que peregrina entre vós; 27 porque todas estas abominações fizeram os homens desta terra que nela estavam antes de vós; e a terra se contaminou. 28 Não suceda que a terra vos vomite, havendo-a vós contaminado, como vomitou o povo que nela estava antes de vós. 29 Todo que fizer alguma destas abominações, sim, aqueles que as cometerem serão eliminados do seu povo. 30 Portanto, guardareis a obrigação que tendes para comigo, não praticando nenhum dos costumes abomináveis que se praticaram antes de vós, e não vos contaminareis com eles. Eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  18 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God. 3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. 4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God. 5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord. 6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord. 7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. 8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness. 9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover. 10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness. 11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. 12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman. 13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman. 14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt. 15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. 16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness. 17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness. 18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time. 19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. 20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her. 21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord. 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. 24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. 26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) 28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. 29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Salmos 22 1 Deus meu, Deus meu, por que me desamparaste? Por que se acham longe de minha salvação as palavras de meu bramido? 2 Deus meu, clamo de dia, e não me respondes; também de noite, porém não tenho sossego. 3 Contudo, tu és santo, entronizado entre os louvores de Israel. 4 Nossos pais confiaram em ti; confiaram, e os livraste. 5 A ti clamaram e se livraram; confiaram em ti e não foram confundidos. 6 Mas eu sou verme e não homem; opróbrio dos homens e desprezado do povo. 7 Todos os que me vêem zombam de mim; afrouxam os lábios e meneiam a cabeça: 8 Confiou no SENHOR! Livre-o ele; salve-o, pois nele tem prazer. 9 Contudo, tu és quem me fez nascer; e me preservaste, estando eu ainda ao seio de minha mãe. 10 A ti me entreguei desde o meu nascimento; desde o ventre de minha mãe, tu és meu Deus. 11 Não te distancies de mim, porque a tribulação está próxima, e não há quem me acuda. 12 Muitos touros me cercam, fortes touros de Basã me rodeiam. 13 Contra mim abrem a boca, como faz o leão que despedaça e ruge. 14 Derramei-me como água, e todos os meus ossos se desconjuntaram; meu coração fez-se como cera, derreteu-se dentro de mim. 15 Secou-se o meu vigor, como um caco de barro, e a língua se me apega ao céu da boca; assim, me deitas no pó da morte. 16 Cães me cercam; uma súcia de malfeitores me rodeia; traspassaram-me as mãos e os pés. 17 Posso contar todos os meus ossos; eles me estão olhando e encarando em mim. 18 Repartem entre si as minhas vestes e sobre a minha túnica deitam sortes. 19 Tu, porém, SENHOR, não te afastes de mim; força minha, apressa-te em socorrer-me. 20 Livra a minha alma da espada, e, das presas do cão, a minha vida. 21 Salva-me das fauces do leão e dos chifres dos búfalos; sim, tu me respondes. 22 A meus irmãos declararei o teu nome; cantar-te-ei louvores no meio da congregação; 23 vós que temeis o SENHOR, louvai-o; glorificai-o, vós todos, descendência de Jacó; reverenciai-o, vós todos, posteridade de Israel. 24 Pois não desprezou, nem abominou a dor do aflito, nem ocultou dele o rosto, mas o ouviu, quando lhe gritou por socorro. 25 De ti vem o meu louvor na grande congregação; cumprirei os meus votos na presença dos que o temem. 26 Os sofredores hão de comer e fartar-se; louvarão o SENHOR os que o buscam. Viva para sempre o vosso coração. 27 Lembrar-se-ão do SENHOR e a ele se converterão os confins da terra; perante ele se prostrarão todas as famílias das nações. 28 Pois do SENHOR é o reino, é ele quem governa as nações. 29 Todos os opulentos da terra hão de comer e adorar, e todos os que descem ao pó se prostrarão perante ele, até aquele que não pode preservar a própria vida. 30 A posteridade o servirá; falar-se-á do Senhor à geração vindoura. 31 Hão de vir anunciar a justiça dele; ao povo que há de nascer, contarão que foi ele quem o fez. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  22 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. 9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. 10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. 11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. 19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. 22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. 23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. 24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. 25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations. 29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. 30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. 31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Eclesiastes 1 1 Palavra do Pregador, filho de Davi, rei de Jerusalém: 2 Vaidade de vaidades, diz o Pregador; vaidade de vaidades, tudo é vaidade. 3 Que proveito tem o homem de todo o seu trabalho, com que se afadiga debaixo do sol? 4 Geração vai e geração vem; mas a terra permanece para sempre. 5 Levanta-se o sol, e põe-se o sol, e volta ao seu lugar, onde nasce de novo. 6 O vento vai para o sul e faz o seu giro para o norte; volve-se, e revolve-se, na sua carreira, e retorna aos seus circuitos. 7 Todos os rios correm para o mar, e o mar não se enche; ao lugar para onde correm os rios, para lá tornam eles a correr. 8 Todas as coisas são canseiras tais, que ninguém as pode exprimir; os olhos não se fartam de ver, nem se enchem os ouvidos de ouvir. 9 O que foi é o que há de ser; e o que se fez, isso se tornará a fazer; nada há, pois, novo debaixo do sol. 10 Há alguma coisa de que se possa dizer: Vê, isto é novo? Não! Já foi nos séculos que foram antes de nós. 11 Já não há lembrança das coisas que precederam; e das coisas posteriores também não haverá memória entre os que hão de vir depois delas. 12 Eu, o Pregador, venho sendo rei de Israel, em Jerusalém. 13 Apliquei o coração a esquadrinhar e a informar-me com sabedoria de tudo quanto sucede debaixo do céu; este enfadonho trabalho impôs Deus aos filhos dos homens, para nele os afligir. 14 Atentei para todas as obras que se fazem debaixo do sol, e eis que tudo era vaidade e correr atrás do vento. 15 Aquilo que é torto não se pode endireitar; e o que falta não se pode calcular. 16 Disse comigo: eis que me engrandeci e sobrepujei em sabedoria a todos os que antes de mim existiram em Jerusalém; com efeito, o meu coração tem tido larga experiência da sabedoria e do conhecimento. 17 Apliquei o coração a conhecer a sabedoria e a saber o que é loucura e o que é estultícia; e vim a saber que também isto é correr atrás do vento. 18 Porque na muita sabedoria há muito enfado; e quem aumenta ciência aumenta tristeza. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? 4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. 5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. 6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. 7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. 8 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. 12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. 16 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. 17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦
