Juízes 2
1 Subiu o Anjo do SENHOR de Gilgal a Boquim e disse: Do Egito vos fiz subir e vos trouxe à terra que, sob juramento, havia prometido a vossos pais. Eu disse: nunca invalidarei a minha aliança convosco.
2 Vós, porém, não fareis aliança com os moradores desta terra; antes, derribareis os seus altares; contudo, não obedecestes à minha voz. Que é isso que fizestes?
3 Pelo que também eu disse: não os expulsarei de diante de vós; antes, vos serão por adversários, e os seus deuses vos serão laços.
4 Sucedeu que, falando o Anjo do SENHOR estas palavras a todos os filhos de Israel, levantou o povo a sua voz e chorou.
5 Daí, chamarem a esse lugar Boquim; e sacrificaram ali ao SENHOR.
6 Havendo Josué despedido o povo, foram-se os filhos de Israel, cada um à sua herança, para possuírem a terra.
7 Serviu o povo ao SENHOR todos os dias de Josué e todos os dias dos anciãos que ainda sobreviveram por muito tempo depois de Josué e que viram todas as grandes obras feitas pelo SENHOR a Israel.
8 Faleceu Josué, filho de Num, servo do SENHOR, com a idade de cento e dez anos;
9 sepultaram-no no limite da sua herança, em Timnate-Heres, na região montanhosa de Efraim, ao norte do monte Gaás.
10 Foi também congregada a seus pais toda aquela geração; e outra geração após eles se levantou, que não conhecia o SENHOR, nem tampouco as obras que fizera a Israel.
11 Então, fizeram os filhos de Israel o que era mau perante o SENHOR; pois serviram aos baalins.
12 Deixaram o SENHOR, Deus de seus pais, que os tirara da terra do Egito, e foram-se após outros deuses, dentre os deuses das gentes que havia ao redor deles, e os adoraram, e provocaram o SENHOR à ira.
13 Porquanto deixaram o SENHOR e serviram a Baal e a Astarote.
14 Pelo que a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra Israel e os deu na mão dos espoliadores, que os pilharam; e os entregou na mão dos seus inimigos ao redor; e não mais puderam resistir a eles.
15 Por onde quer que saíam, a mão do SENHOR era contra eles para seu mal, como o SENHOR lhes dissera e jurara; e estavam em grande aperto.
16 Suscitou o SENHOR juízes, que os livraram da mão dos que os pilharam.
17 Contudo, não obedeceram aos seus juízes; antes, se prostituíram após outros deuses e os adoraram. Depressa se desviaram do caminho por onde andaram seus pais na obediência dos mandamentos do SENHOR; e não fizeram como eles.
18 Quando o SENHOR lhes suscitava juízes, o SENHOR era com o juiz e os livrava da mão dos seus inimigos, todos os dias daquele juiz; porquanto o SENHOR se compadecia deles ante os seus gemidos, por causa dos que os apertavam e oprimiam.
19 Sucedia, porém, que, falecendo o juiz, reincidiam e se tornavam piores do que seus pais, seguindo após outros deuses, servindo-os e adorando-os eles; nada deixavam das suas obras, nem da obstinação dos seus caminhos.
20 Pelo que a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra Israel; e disse: Porquanto este povo transgrediu a minha aliança que eu ordenara a seus pais e não deu ouvidos à minha voz,
21 também eu não expulsarei mais de diante dele nenhuma das nações que Josué deixou quando morreu;
22 para, por elas, pôr Israel à prova, se guardará ou não o caminho do SENHOR, como seus pais o guardaram.
23 Assim, o SENHOR deixou ficar aquelas nações e não as expulsou logo, nem as entregou na mão de Josué.
2 And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. 2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? 3 Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. 4 And it came to pass, when the angel of the Lord spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept. 5 And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the Lord. 6 And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land. 7 And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel. 8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old. 9 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger. 13 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. 14 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies. 15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed. 16 Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them. 17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the Lord; but they did not so. 18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. 19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. 20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice; 21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died: 22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not. 23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

Atos 6
1 Ora, naqueles dias, multiplicando-se o número dos discípulos, houve murmuração dos helenistas contra os hebreus, porque as viúvas deles estavam sendo esquecidas na distribuição diária.
2 Então, os doze convocaram a comunidade dos discípulos e disseram: Não é razoável que nós abandonemos a palavra de Deus para servir às mesas.
3 Mas, irmãos, escolhei dentre vós sete homens de boa reputação, cheios do Espírito e de sabedoria, aos quais encarregaremos deste serviço;
4 e, quanto a nós, nos consagraremos à oração e ao ministério da palavra.
5 O parecer agradou a toda a comunidade; e elegeram Estêvão, homem cheio de fé e do Espírito Santo, Filipe, Prócoro, Nicanor, Timão, Pármenas e Nicolau, prosélito de Antioquia.
6 Apresentaram-nos perante os apóstolos, e estes, orando, lhes impuseram as mãos.
7 Crescia a palavra de Deus, e, em Jerusalém, se multiplicava o número dos discípulos; também muitíssimos sacerdotes obedeciam à fé.
8 Estêvão, cheio de graça e poder, fazia prodígios e grandes sinais entre o povo.
9 Levantaram-se, porém, alguns dos que eram da sinagoga chamada dos Libertos, dos cireneus, dos alexandrinos e dos da Cilícia e Ásia, e discutiam com Estêvão;
10 e não podiam resistir à sabedoria e ao Espírito, pelo qual ele falava.
11 Então, subornaram homens que dissessem: Temos ouvido este homem proferir blasfêmias contra Moisés e contra Deus.
12 Sublevaram o povo, os anciãos e os escribas e, investindo, o arrebataram, levando-o ao Sinédrio.
13 Apresentaram testemunhas falsas, que depuseram: Este homem não cessa de falar contra o lugar santo e contra a lei;
14 porque o temos ouvido dizer que esse Jesus, o Nazareno, destruirá este lugar e mudará os costumes que Moisés nos deu.
15 Todos os que estavam assentados no Sinédrio, fitando os olhos em Estêvão, viram o seu rosto como se fosse rosto de anjo.
6 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. 9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. 11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. 12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, 13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: 14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Jeremias 15
1 Disse-me, porém, o SENHOR: Ainda que Moisés e Samuel se pusessem diante de mim, meu coração não se inclinaria para este povo; lança-os de diante de mim, e saiam.
2 Quando te perguntarem: Para onde iremos? Dir-lhes-ás: Assim diz o SENHOR: O que é para a morte, para a morte; o que é para a espada, para a espada; o que é para a fome, para a fome; e o que é para o cativeiro, para o cativeiro.
3 Porque os punirei com quatro sortes de castigos, diz o SENHOR: com espada para matar, com cães para os arrastarem e com as aves dos céus e as feras do campo para os devorarem e destruírem.
4 Entregá-los-ei para que sejam um espetáculo horrendo para todos os reinos da terra; por causa de Manassés, filho de Ezequias, rei de Judá, por tudo quanto fez em Jerusalém.
5 Pois quem se compadeceria de ti, ó Jerusalém? Ou quem se entristeceria por ti? Ou quem se desviaria a perguntar pelo teu bem-estar?
6 Tu me rejeitaste, diz o SENHOR, voltaste para trás; por isso, levantarei a mão contra ti e te destruirei; estou cansado de ter compaixão.
7 Cirandei-os com a pá nas portas da terra; desfilhei e destruí o meu povo, mas não deixaram os seus caminhos.
8 As suas viúvas se multiplicaram mais do que as areias dos mares; eu trouxe ao meio-dia um destruidor sobre a mãe de jovens; fiz cair de repente sobre ela angústia e pavor.
9 Aquela que tinha sete filhos desmaiou como para expirar a alma; pôs-se-lhe o sol quando ainda era dia; ela ficou envergonhada e confundida, e os que ficaram dela, eu os entregarei à espada, diante dos seus inimigos, diz o SENHOR.
10 Ai de mim, minha mãe! Pois me deste à luz homem de rixa e homem de contendas para toda a terra! Nunca lhes emprestei com usura, nem eles me emprestaram a mim com usura; todavia, cada um deles me amaldiçoa.
11 Disse o SENHOR: Na verdade, eu te fortalecerei para o bem e farei que o inimigo te dirija súplicas no tempo da calamidade e no tempo da aflição.
12 Pode alguém quebrar o ferro, o ferro do Norte, ou o bronze?
13 Os teus bens e os teus tesouros entregarei gratuitamente ao saque, por todos os teus pecados e em todos os teus territórios.
14 Levar-te-ei com os teus inimigos para a terra que não conheces; porque o fogo se acendeu em minha ira e sobre vós arderá.
15 Tu, ó SENHOR, o sabes; lembra-te de mim, ampara-me e vinga-me dos meus perseguidores; não me deixes ser arrebatado, por causa da tua longanimidade; sabe que por amor de ti tenho sofrido afrontas.
16 Achadas as tuas palavras, logo as comi; as tuas palavras me foram gozo e alegria para o coração, pois pelo teu nome sou chamado, ó SENHOR, Deus dos Exércitos.
17 Nunca me assentei na roda dos que se alegram, nem me regozijei; oprimido por tua mão, eu me assentei solitário, pois já estou de posse das tuas ameaças.
18 Por que dura a minha dor continuamente, e a minha ferida me dói e não admite cura? Serias tu para mim como ilusório ribeiro, como águas que enganam?
19 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR: Se tu te arrependeres, eu te farei voltar e estarás diante de mim; se apartares o precioso do vil, serás a minha boca; e eles se tornarão a ti, mas tu não passarás para o lado deles.
20 Eu te porei contra este povo como forte muro de bronze; eles pelejarão contra ti, mas não prevalecerão contra ti; porque eu sou contigo para te salvar, para te livrar deles, diz o SENHOR;
21 Arrebatar-te-ei das mãos dos iníquos, livrar-te-ei das garras dos violentos.
15 Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. 2 And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the Lord; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. 3 And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the Lord: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy. 4 And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. 5 For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest? 6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. 7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people since they return not from their ways. 8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city. 9 She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the Lord. 10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. 11 The Lord said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. 12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? 13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. 14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you. 15 O Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. 17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. 18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail? 19 Therefore thus saith the Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. 20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the Lord. 21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
