LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version      Gênesis 34 Marcos 5  Ester 10 LEITURA  2º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Gênesis 34 1 Ora, Diná, filha que Lia dera à luz a Jacó, saiu para ver as filhas da terra. 2 Viu-a Siquém, filho do heveu Hamor, que era príncipe daquela terra, e, tomando-a, a possuiu e assim a humilhou. 3 Sua alma se apegou a Diná, filha de Jacó, e amou a jovem, e falou-lhe ao coração. 4 Então, disse Siquém a Hamor, seu pai: Consegue-me esta jovem para esposa. 5 Quando soube Jacó que Diná, sua filha, fora violada por Siquém, estavam os seus filhos no campo com o gado; calou-se, pois, até que voltassem. 6 E saiu Hamor, pai de Siquém, para falar com Jacó. 7 Vindo os filhos de Jacó do campo e ouvindo o que acontecera, indignaram-se e muito se iraram, pois Siquém praticara um desatino em Israel, violentando a filha de Jacó, o que se não devia fazer. 8 Disse-lhes Hamor: A alma de meu filho Siquém está enamorada fortemente de vossa filha; peço-vos que lha deis por esposa. 9 Aparentai-vos conosco, dai-nos as vossas filhas e tomai as nossas; 10 habitareis conosco, a terra estará ao vosso dispor; habitai e negociai nela e nela tende possessões. 11 E o próprio Siquém disse ao pai e aos irmãos de Diná: Ache eu mercê diante de vós e vos darei o que determinardes. 12 Majorai de muito o dote de casamento e as dádivas, e darei o que me pedirdes; dai-me, porém, a jovem por esposa. 13 Então, os filhos de Jacó, por causa de lhes haver Siquém violado a irmã, Diná, responderam com dolo a Siquém e a seu pai Hamor e lhes disseram: 14 Não podemos fazer isso, dar nossa irmã a um homem incircunciso; porque isso nos seria ignomínia. 15 Sob uma única condição permitiremos: que vos torneis como nós, circuncidando-se todo macho entre vós; 16 então, vos daremos nossas filhas, tomaremos para nós as vossas, habitaremos convosco e seremos um só povo. 17 Se, porém, não nos ouvirdes e não vos circuncidardes, tomaremos a nossa filha e nos retiraremos embora. 18 Tais palavras agradaram a Hamor e a Siquém, seu filho. 19 Não tardou o jovem em fazer isso, porque amava a filha de Jacó e era o mais honrado de toda a casa de seu pai. 20 Vieram, pois, Hamor e Siquém, seu filho, à porta da sua cidade e falaram aos homens da cidade: 21 Estes homens são pacíficos para conosco; portanto, habitem na terra e negociem nela. A terra é bastante espaçosa para contê-los; recebamos por mulheres a suas filhas e demos-lhes também as nossas. 22 Somente, porém, consentirão os homens em habitar conosco, tornando-nos um só povo, se todo macho entre nós se circuncidar, como eles são circuncidados. 23 O seu gado, as suas possessões e todos os seus animais não serão nossos? Consintamos, pois, com eles, e habitarão conosco. 24 E deram ouvidos a Hamor e a Siquém, seu filho, todos os que saíam da porta da cidade; e todo homem foi circuncidado, dos que saíam pela porta da sua cidade. 25 Ao terceiro dia, quando os homens sentiam mais forte a dor, dois filhos de Jacó, Simeão e Levi, irmãos de Diná, tomaram cada um a sua espada, entraram inesperadamente na cidade e mataram os homens todos. 26 Passaram também ao fio da espada a Hamor e a seu filho Siquém; tomaram a Diná da casa de Siquém e saíram. 27 Sobrevieram os filhos de Jacó aos mortos e saquearam a cidade, porque sua irmã fora violada. 28 Levaram deles os rebanhos, os bois, os jumentos e o que havia na cidade e no campo; 29 todos os seus bens, e todos os seus meninos, e as suas mulheres levaram cativos e pilharam tudo o que havia nas casas. 30 Então, disse Jacó a Simeão e a Levi: Vós me afligistes e me fizestes odioso entre os moradores desta terra, entre os cananeus e os ferezeus; sendo nós pouca gente, reunir-se-ão contra mim, e serei destruído, eu e minha casa. 31 Responderam: Abusaria ele de nossa irmã, como se fosse prostituta? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  34 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. 3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel. 4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife. 5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come. 6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him. 7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter: which thing ought not to be done. 8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife. 9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you. 10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein. 11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give. 12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife. 13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister: 14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised; 16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone. 18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son. 19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father. 20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying, 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised. 23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of their's be our's? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city. 25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. 26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, 29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house. 30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. 31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Marcos 5 1 Entrementes, chegaram à outra margem do mar, à terra dos gerasenos. 2 Ao desembarcar, logo veio dos sepulcros, ao seu encontro, um homem possesso de espírito imundo, 3 o qual vivia nos sepulcros, e nem mesmo com cadeias alguém podia prendê-lo; 4 porque, tendo sido muitas vezes preso com grilhões e cadeias, as cadeias foram quebradas por ele, e os grilhões, despedaçados. E ninguém podia subjugá-lo. 5 Andava sempre, de noite e de dia, clamando por entre os sepulcros e pelos montes, ferindo-se com pedras. 6 Quando, de longe, viu Jesus, correu e o adorou, 7 exclamando com alta voz: Que tenho eu contigo, Jesus, Filho do Deus Altíssimo? Conjuro-te por Deus que não me atormentes! 8 Porque Jesus lhe dissera: Espírito imundo, sai desse homem! 9 E perguntou-lhe: Qual é o teu nome? Respondeu ele: Legião é o meu nome, porque somos muitos. 10 E rogou-lhe encarecidamente que os não mandasse para fora do país. 11 Ora, pastava ali pelo monte uma grande manada de porcos. 12 E os espíritos imundos rogaram a Jesus, dizendo: Manda-nos para os porcos, para que entremos neles. 13 Jesus o permitiu. Então, saindo os espíritos imundos, entraram nos porcos; e a manada, que era cerca de dois mil, precipitou-se despenhadeiro abaixo, para dentro do mar, onde se afogaram. 14 Os porqueiros fugiram e o anunciaram na cidade e pelos campos. Então, saiu o povo para ver o que sucedera. 15 Indo ter com Jesus, viram o endemoninhado, o que tivera a legião, assentado, vestido, em perfeito juízo; e temeram. 16 Os que haviam presenciado os fatos contaram-lhes o que acontecera ao endemoninhado e acerca dos porcos. 17 E entraram a rogar-lhe que se retirasse da terra deles. 18 Ao entrar Jesus no barco, suplicava-lhe o que fora endemoninhado que o deixasse estar com ele. 19 Jesus, porém, não lho permitiu, mas ordenou-lhe: Vai para tua casa, para os teus. Anuncia-lhes tudo o que o Senhor te fez e como teve compaixão de ti. 20 Então, ele foi e começou a proclamar em Decápolis tudo o que Jesus lhe fizera; e todos se admiravam. 21 Tendo Jesus voltado no barco, para o outro lado, afluiu para ele grande multidão; e ele estava junto do mar. 22 Eis que se chegou a ele um dos principais da sinagoga, chamado Jairo, e, vendo-o, prostrou-se a seus pés 23 e insistentemente lhe suplicou: Minha filhinha está à morte; vem, impõe as mãos sobre ela, para que seja salva, e viverá. 24 Jesus foi com ele. Grande multidão o seguia, comprimindo-o. 25 Aconteceu que certa mulher, que, havia doze anos, vinha sofrendo de uma hemorragia 26 e muito padecera à mão de vários médicos, tendo despendido tudo quanto possuía, sem, contudo, nada aproveitar, antes, pelo contrário, indo a pior, 27 tendo ouvido a fama de Jesus, vindo por trás dele, por entre a multidão, tocou-lhe a veste. 28 Porque, dizia: Se eu apenas lhe tocar as vestes, ficarei curada. 29 E logo se lhe estancou a hemorragia, e sentiu no corpo estar curada do seu flagelo. 30 Jesus, reconhecendo imediatamente que dele saíra poder, virando-se no meio da multidão, perguntou: Quem me tocou nas vestes? 31 Responderam-lhe seus discípulos: Vês que a multidão te aperta e dizes: Quem me tocou? 32 Ele, porém, olhava ao redor para ver quem fizera isto. 33 Então, a mulher, atemorizada e tremendo, cônscia do que nela se operara, veio, prostrou-se diante dele e declarou-lhe toda a verdade. 34 E ele lhe disse: Filha, a tua fé te salvou; vai-te em paz e fica livre do teu mal. 35 Falava ele ainda, quando chegaram alguns da casa do chefe da sinagoga, a quem disseram: Tua filha já morreu; por que ainda incomodas o Mestre? 36 Mas Jesus, sem acudir a tais palavras, disse ao chefe da sinagoga: Não temas, crê somente. 37 Contudo, não permitiu que alguém o acompanhasse, senão Pedro e os irmãos Tiago e João. 38 Chegando à casa do chefe da sinagoga, viu Jesus o alvoroço, os que choravam e os que pranteavam muito. 39 Ao entrar, lhes disse: Por que estais em alvoroço e chorais? A criança não está morta, mas dorme. 40 E riam-se dele. Tendo ele, porém, mandado sair a todos, tomou o pai e a mãe da criança e os que vieram com ele e entrou onde ela estava. 41 Tomando-a pela mão, disse: Talitá cumi!, que quer dizer: Menina, eu te mando, levanta-te! 42 Imediatamente, a menina se levantou e pôs-se a andar; pois tinha doze anos. Então, ficaram todos sobremaneira admirados. 43 Mas Jesus ordenou-lhes expressamente que ninguém o soubesse; e mandou que dessem de comer à menina. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. 9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. 14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. 21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. 22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him. 25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. 35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. 42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. Então, passou os filhos a Lia, a Raquel e às duas servas. 2 Pôs as servas e seus filhos à frente, Lia e seus filhos atrás deles e Raquel e José por últimos. 3 E ele mesmo, adiantando-se, prostrou-se à terra sete vezes, até aproximar-se de seu irmão. 4 Então, Esaú correu-lhe ao encontro e o abraçou; arrojou-se-lhe ao pescoço e o beijou; e choraram. 5 Daí, levantando os olhos, viu as mulheres e os meninos e disse: Quem são estes contigo? Respondeu-lhe Jacó: Os filhos com que Deus agraciou a teu servo. 6 Então, se aproximaram as servas, elas e seus filhos, e se prostraram. 7 Chegaram também Lia e seus filhos e se prostraram; por último chegaram José e Raquel e se prostraram. 8 Perguntou Esaú: Qual é o teu propósito com todos esses bandos que encontrei? Respondeu Jacó: Para lograr mercê na presença de meu senhor. 9 Então, disse Esaú: Eu tenho muitos bens, meu irmão; guarda o que tens. 10 Mas Jacó insistiu: Não recuses; se logrei mercê diante de ti, peço-te que aceites o meu presente, porquanto vi o teu rosto como se tivesse contemplado o semblante de Deus; e te agradaste de mim. 11 Peço-te, pois, recebe o meu presente, que eu te trouxe; porque Deus tem sido generoso para comigo, e tenho fartura. E instou com ele, até que o aceitou. 12 Disse Esaú: Partamos e caminhemos; eu seguirei junto de ti. 13 Porém Jacó lhe disse: Meu senhor sabe que estes meninos são tenros, e tenho comigo ovelhas e vacas de leite; se forçadas a caminhar demais um só dia, morrerão todos os rebanhos. 14 Passe meu senhor adiante de seu servo; eu seguirei guiando-as pouco a pouco, no passo do gado que me vai à frente e no passo dos meninos, até chegar a meu senhor, em Seir. 15 Respondeu Esaú: Então, permite que eu deixe contigo da gente que está comigo. Disse Jacó: Para quê? Basta que eu alcance mercê aos olhos de meu senhor. 16 Assim, voltou Esaú aquele dia a Seir, pelo caminho por onde viera. 17 E Jacó partiu para Sucote, e edificou para si uma casa, e fez palhoças para o seu gado; por isso, o lugar se chamou Sucote. 18 Voltando de Padã-Arã, chegou Jacó são e salvo à cidade de Siquém, que está na terra de Canaã; e armou a sua tenda junto da cidade. 19 A parte do campo, onde armara a sua tenda, ele a comprou dos filhos de Hamor, pai de Siquém, por cem peças de dinheiro. 20 E levantou ali um altar e lhe chamou Deus, o Deus de Israel. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids. 2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost. 3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. 5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant. 6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. 7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. 8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord. 9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. 10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me. 11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it. 12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee. 13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. 14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir. 15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. E todo o povo estava à beira-mar, na praia. 2 Assim, lhes ensinava muitas coisas por parábolas, no decorrer do seu doutrinamento. 3 Ouvi: Eis que saiu o semeador a semear. 4 E, ao semear, uma parte caiu à beira do caminho, e vieram as aves e a comeram. 5 Outra caiu em solo rochoso, onde a terra era pouca, e logo nasceu, visto não ser profunda a terra. 6 Saindo, porém, o sol, a queimou; e, porque não tinha raiz, secou-se. 7 Outra parte caiu entre os espinhos; e os espinhos cresceram e a sufocaram, e não deu fruto. 8 Outra, enfim, caiu em boa terra e deu fruto, que vingou e cresceu, produzindo a trinta, a sessenta e a cem por um. 9 E acrescentou: Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça. 10 Quando Jesus ficou só, os que estavam junto dele com os doze o interrogaram a respeito das parábolas. 11 Ele lhes respondeu: A vós outros vos é dado conhecer o mistério do reino de Deus; mas, aos de fora, tudo se ensina por meio de parábolas, 12 para que, vendo, vejam e não percebam; e, ouvindo, ouçam e não entendam; para que não venham a converter-se, e haja perdão para eles. 13 Então, lhes perguntou: Não entendeis esta parábola e como compreendereis todas as parábolas? 14 O semeador semeia a palavra. 15 São estes os da beira do caminho, onde a palavra é semeada; e, enquanto a ouvem, logo vem Satanás e tira a palavra semeada neles. 16 Semelhantemente, são estes os semeados em solo rochoso, os quais, ouvindo a palavra, logo a recebem com alegria. 17 Mas eles não têm raiz em si mesmos, sendo, antes, de pouca duração; em lhes chegando a angústia ou a perseguição por causa da palavra, logo se escandalizam. 18 Os outros, os semeados entre os espinhos, são os que ouvem a palavra, 19 mas os cuidados do mundo, a fascinação da riqueza e as demais ambições, concorrendo, sufocam a palavra, ficando ela infrutífera. 20 Os que foram semeados em boa terra são aqueles que ouvem a palavra e a recebem, frutificando a trinta, a sessenta e a cem por um. 21 Também lhes disse: Vem, porventura, a candeia para ser posta debaixo do alqueire ou da cama? Não vem, antes, para ser colocada no velador? 22 Pois nada está oculto, senão para ser manifesto; e nada se faz escondido, senão para ser revelado. 23 Se alguém tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça. 24 Então, lhes disse: Atentai no que ouvis. Com a medida com que tiverdes medido vos medirão também, e ainda se vos acrescentará. 25 Pois ao que tem se lhe dará; e, ao que não tem, até o que tem lhe será tirado. 26 Disse ainda: O reino de Deus é assim como se um homem lançasse a semente à terra; 27 depois, dormisse e se levantasse, de noite e de dia, e a semente germinasse e crescesse, não sabendo ele como. 28 A terra por si mesma frutifica: primeiro a erva, depois, a espiga, e, por fim, o grão cheio na espiga. 29 E, quando o fruto já está maduro, logo se lhe mete a foice, porque é chegada a ceifa. 30 Disse mais: A que assemelharemos o reino de Deus? Ou com que parábola o apresentaremos? 31 É como um grão de mostarda, que, quando semeado, é a menor de todas as sementes sobre a terra; 32 mas, uma vez semeada, cresce e se torna maior do que todas as hortaliças e deita grandes ramos, a ponto de as aves do céu poderem aninhar-se à sua sombra. 33 E com muitas parábolas semelhantes lhes expunha a palavra, conforme o permitia a capacidade dos ouvintes. 34 E sem parábolas não lhes falava; tudo, porém, explicava em particular aos seus próprios discípulos. 35 Naquele dia, sendo já tarde, disse-lhes Jesus: Passemos para a outra margem. 36 E eles, despedindo a multidão, o levaram assim como estava, no barco; e outros barcos o seguiam. 37 Ora, levantou-se grande temporal de vento, e as ondas se arremessavam contra o barco, de modo que o mesmo já estava a encher-se de água. 38 E Jesus estava na popa, dormindo sobre o travesseiro; eles o despertaram e lhe disseram: Mestre, não te importa que pereçamos? 39 E ele, despertando, repreendeu o vento e disse ao mar: Acalma-te, emudece! O vento se aquietou, e fez-se grande bonança. 40 Então, lhes disse: Por que sois assim tímidos?! And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Ester 9 1 No dia treze do duodécimo mês, que é o mês de adar, quando chegou a palavra do rei e a sua ordem para se executar, no dia em que os inimigos dos judeus contavam assenhorear-se deles, sucedeu o contrário, pois os judeus é que se assenhorearam dos que os odiavam; 2 porque os judeus, nas suas cidades, em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, se ajuntaram para dar cabo daqueles que lhes procuravam o mal; e ninguém podia resistir-lhes, porque o terror que inspiravam caiu sobre todos aqueles povos. 3 Todos os príncipes das províncias, e os sátrapas, e os governadores, e os oficiais do rei auxiliavam os judeus, porque tinha caído sobre eles o temor de Mordecai. 4 Porque Mordecai era grande na casa do rei, e a sua fama crescia por todas as províncias; pois ele se ia tornando mais e mais poderoso. 5 Feriram, pois, os judeus a todos os seus inimigos, a golpes de espada, com matança e destruição; e fizeram dos seus inimigos o que bem quiseram. 6 Na cidadela de Susã, os judeus mataram e destruíram a quinhentos homens, 7 como também a Parsandata, a Dalfom, a Aspata, 8 a Porata, a Adalia, a Aridata, 9 a Farmasta, a Arisai, a Aridai e a Vaizata, 10 que eram os dez filhos de Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o inimigo dos judeus; porém no despojo não tocaram. 11 No mesmo dia, foi comunicado ao rei o número dos mortos na cidadela de Susã. 12 Disse o rei à rainha Ester: Na cidadela de Susã, mataram e destruíram os judeus a quinhentos homens e os dez filhos de Hamã; nas mais províncias do rei, que terão eles feito? Qual é, pois, a tua petição? E se te dará. Ou que é que desejas ainda? E se cumprirá. 13 Então, disse Ester: Se bem parecer ao rei, conceda-se aos judeus que se acham em Susã que também façam, amanhã, segundo o edito de hoje e dependurem em forca os cadáveres dos dez filhos de Hamã. 14 Então, disse o rei que assim se fizesse; publicou-se o edito em Susã, e dependuraram os cadáveres dos dez filhos de Hamã. 15 Reuniram-se os judeus que se achavam em Susã também no dia catorze do mês de adar, e mataram, em Susã, a trezentos homens; porém no despojo não tocaram. 16 Também os demais judeus que se achavam nas províncias do rei se reuniram, e se dispuseram para defender a vida, e tiveram sossego dos seus inimigos; e mataram a setenta e cinco mil dos que os odiavam; porém no despojo não tocaram. 17 Sucedeu isto no dia treze do mês de adar; no dia catorze, descansaram e o fizeram dia de banquetes e de alegria. 18 Os judeus, porém, que se achavam em Susã se ajuntaram nos dias treze e catorze do mesmo; e descansaram no dia quinze e o fizeram dia de banquetes e de alegria. 19 Também os judeus das vilas que habitavam nas aldeias abertas fizeram do dia catorze do mês de adar dia de alegria e de banquetes e dia de festa e de mandarem porções dos banquetes uns aos outros. 20 Mordecai escreveu estas coisas e enviou cartas a todos os judeus que se achavam em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, aos de perto e aos de longe, 21 ordenando-lhes que comemorassem o dia catorze do mês de adar e o dia quinze do mesmo, todos os anos, 22 como os dias em que os judeus tiveram sossego dos seus inimigos, e o mês que se lhes mudou de tristeza em alegria, e de luto em dia de festa; para que os fizessem dias de banquetes e de alegria, e de mandarem porções dos banquetes uns aos outros, e dádivas aos pobres. 23 Assim, os judeus aceitaram como costume o que, naquele tempo, haviam feito pela primeira vez, segundo Mordecai lhes prescrevera; 24 porque Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, inimigo de todos os judeus, tinha intentado destruir os judeus; e tinha lançado o Pur, isto é, sortes, para os assolar e destruir. 25 Mas, tendo Ester ido perante o rei, ordenou ele por cartas que o seu mau intento, que assentara contra os judeus, recaísse contra a própria cabeça dele, pelo que enforcaram a ele e a seus filhos. 26 Por isso, àqueles dias chamam Purim, do nome Pur. Daí, por causa de todas as palavras daquela carta, e do que testemunharam, e do que lhes havia sucedido, 27 determinaram os judeus e tomaram sobre si, sobre a sua descendência e sobre todos os que se chegassem a eles que não se deixaria de comemorar estes dois dias segundo o que se escrevera deles e segundo o seu tempo marcado, todos os anos; 28 e que estes dias seriam lembrados e comemorados geração após geração, por todas as famílias, em todas as províncias e em todas as cidades, e que estes dias de Purim jamais caducariam entre os judeus, e que a memória deles jamais se extinguiria entre os seus descendentes. 29 Então, a rainha Ester, filha de Abiail, e o judeu Mordecai escreveram, com toda a autoridade, segunda vez, para confirmar a carta de Purim. 30 Expediram cartas a todos os judeus, às cento e vinte e sete províncias do reino de Assuero, com palavras amigáveis e sinceras, 31 para confirmar estes dias de Purim nos seus tempos determinados, como o judeu Mordecai e a rainha Ester lhes tinham estabelecido, e como eles mesmos já o tinham estabelecido sobre si e sobre a sua descendência, acerca do jejum e do seu lamento. 32 E o mandado de Ester estabeleceu estas particularidades de Purim; e se escreveu no livro. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  9 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;) 2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people. 3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them. 4 For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater. 5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them. 6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men. 7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha, 8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha, 9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha, 10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand. 11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king. 12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done. 13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows. 14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons. 15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand. 16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey, 17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness. 18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness. 19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another. 20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far, 21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly, 22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor. 23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them; 24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them; 25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows. 26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur.
