LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version      Êxodo 19 Lucas 23  Jó 38 LEITURA  9º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Êxodo 19 1 No terceiro mês da saída dos filhos de Israel da terra do Egito, no primeiro dia desse mês, vieram ao deserto do Sinai. 2 Tendo partido de Refidim, vieram ao deserto do Sinai, no qual se acamparam; ali, pois, se acampou Israel em frente do monte. 3 Subiu Moisés a Deus, e do monte o SENHOR o chamou e lhe disse: Assim falarás à casa de Jacó e anunciarás aos filhos de Israel: 4 Tendes visto o que fiz aos egípcios, como vos levei sobre asas de águia e vos cheguei a mim. 5 Agora, pois, se diligentemente ouvirdes a minha voz e guardardes a minha aliança, então, sereis a minha propriedade peculiar dentre todos os povos; porque toda a terra é minha; 6 vós me sereis reino de sacerdotes e nação santa. São estas as palavras que falarás aos filhos de Israel. 7 Veio Moisés, chamou os anciãos do povo e expôs diante deles todas estas palavras que o SENHOR lhe havia ordenado. 8 Então, o povo respondeu à uma: Tudo o que o SENHOR falou faremos. E Moisés relatou ao SENHOR as palavras do povo. 9 Disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Eis que virei a ti numa nuvem escura, para que o povo ouça quando eu falar contigo e para que também creiam sempre em ti. Porque Moisés tinha anunciado as palavras do seu povo ao SENHOR. 10 Disse também o SENHOR a Moisés: Vai ao povo e purifica-o hoje e amanhã. Lavem eles as suas vestes 11 e estejam prontos para o terceiro dia; porque no terceiro dia o SENHOR, à vista de todo o povo, descerá sobre o monte Sinai. 12 Marcarás em redor limites ao povo, dizendo: Guardai-vos de subir ao monte, nem toqueis o seu limite; todo aquele que tocar o monte será morto. 13 Mão nenhuma tocará neste, mas será apedrejado ou flechado; quer seja animal, quer seja homem, não viverá. Quando soar longamente a buzina, então, subirão ao monte. 14 Moisés, tendo descido do monte ao povo, consagrou o povo; e lavaram as suas vestes. 15 E disse ao povo: Estai prontos ao terceiro dia; e não vos chegueis a mulher. 16 Ao amanhecer do terceiro dia, houve trovões, e relâmpagos, e uma espessa nuvem sobre o monte, e mui forte clangor de trombeta, de maneira que todo o povo que estava no arraial se estremeceu. 17 E Moisés levou o povo fora do arraial ao encontro de Deus; e puseram-se ao pé do monte. 18 Todo o monte Sinai fumegava, porque o SENHOR descera sobre ele em fogo; a sua fumaça subiu como fumaça de uma fornalha, e todo o monte tremia grandemente. 19 E o clangor da trombeta ia aumentando cada vez mais; Moisés falava, e Deus lhe respondia no trovão. 20 Descendo o SENHOR para o cimo do monte Sinai, chamou o SENHOR a Moisés para o cimo do monte. Moisés subiu, 21 e o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Desce, adverte ao povo que não traspasse o limite até ao SENHOR para vê-lo, a fim de muitos deles não perecerem. 22 Também os sacerdotes, que se chegam ao SENHOR, se hão de consagrar, para que o SENHOR não os fira. 23 Então, disse Moisés ao SENHOR: O povo não poderá subir ao monte Sinai, porque tu nos advertiste, dizendo: Marca limites ao redor do monte e consagra-o. 24 Replicou-lhe o SENHOR: Vai, desce; depois, subirás tu, e Arão contigo; os sacerdotes, porém, e o povo não traspassem o limite para subir ao SENHOR, para que não os fira. 25 Desceu, pois, Moisés ao povo e lhe disse tudo isso. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  19 In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. 2 For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount. 3 And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; 4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. 7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him. 8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord. 9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord. 10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, 11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. 12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: 13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. 14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes. 15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives. 16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. 18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. 19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. 20 And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up. 21 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them perish. 22 And let the priests also, which come near to the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break forth upon them. 23 And Moses said unto the Lord, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. 24 And the Lord said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord, lest he break forth upon them. 25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Lucas 23 1 Levantando-se toda a assembléia, levaram Jesus a Pilatos. 2 E ali passaram a acusá-lo, dizendo: Encontramos este homem pervertendo a nossa nação, vedando pagar tributo a César e afirmando ser ele o Cristo, o Rei. 3 Então, lhe perguntou Pilatos: És tu o rei dos judeus? Respondeu Jesus: Tu o dizes. 4 Disse Pilatos aos principais sacerdotes e às multidões: Não vejo neste homem crime algum. 5 Insistiam, porém, cada vez mais, dizendo: Ele alvoroça o povo, ensinando por toda a Judéia, desde a Galiléia, onde começou, até aqui. 6 Tendo Pilatos ouvido isto, perguntou se aquele homem era galileu. 7 Ao saber que era da jurisdição de Herodes, estando este, naqueles dias, em Jerusalém, lho remeteu. 8 Herodes, vendo a Jesus, sobremaneira se alegrou, pois havia muito queria vê-lo, por ter ouvido falar a seu respeito; esperava também vê-lo fazer algum sinal. 9 E de muitos modos o interrogava; Jesus, porém, nada lhe respondia. 10 Os principais sacerdotes e os escribas ali presentes o acusavam com grande veemência. 11 Mas Herodes, juntamente com os da sua guarda, tratou-o com desprezo, e, escarnecendo dele, fê-lo vestir-se de um manto aparatoso, e o devolveu a Pilatos. 12 Naquele mesmo dia, Herodes e Pilatos se reconciliaram, pois, antes, viviam inimizados um com o outro. 13 Então, reunindo Pilatos os principais sacerdotes, as autoridades e o povo, 14 disse-lhes: Apresentastes-me este homem como agitador do povo; mas, tendo-o interrogado na vossa presença, nada verifiquei contra ele dos crimes de que o acusais. 15 Nem tampouco Herodes, pois no-lo tornou a enviar. É, pois, claro que nada contra ele se verificou digno de morte. 16 Portanto, após castigá-lo, soltá-lo-ei. 17 [E era-lhe forçoso soltar-lhes um detento por ocasião da festa.] 18 Toda a multidão, porém, gritava: Fora com este! Solta-nos Barrabás! 19 Barrabás estava no cárcere por causa de uma sedição na cidade e também por homicídio. 20 Desejando Pilatos soltar a Jesus, insistiu ainda. 21 Eles, porém, mais gritavam: Crucifica-o! Crucifica-o! 22 Então, pela terceira vez, lhes perguntou: Que mal fez este? De fato, nada achei contra ele para condená-lo à morte; portanto, depois de o castigar, soltá-lo-ei. 23 Mas eles instavam com grandes gritos, pedindo que fosse crucificado. E o seu clamor prevaleceu. 24 Então, Pilatos decidiu atender-lhes o pedido. 25 Soltou aquele que estava encarcerado por causa da sedição e do homicídio, a quem eles pediam; e, quanto a Jesus, entregou-o à vontade deles. 26 E, como o conduzissem, constrangendo um cireneu, chamado Simão, que vinha do campo, puseram-lhe a cruz sobre os ombros, para que a levasse após Jesus. 27 Seguia-o numerosa multidão de povo, e também mulheres que batiam no peito e o lamentavam. 28 Porém Jesus, voltando-se para elas, disse: Filhas de Jerusalém, não choreis por mim; chorai, antes, por vós mesmas e por vossos filhos! 29 Porque dias virão em que se dirá: Bem-aventuradas as estéreis, que não geraram, nem amamentaram. 30 Nesses dias, dirão aos montes: Caí sobre nós! E aos outeiros: Cobri-nos! 31 Porque, se em lenho verde fazem isto, que será no lenho seco? 32 E também eram levados outros dois, que eram malfeitores, para serem executados com ele. 33 Quando chegaram ao lugar chamado Calvário, ali o crucificaram, bem como aos malfeitores, um à direita, outro à esquerda. 34 Contudo, Jesus dizia: Pai, perdoa-lhes, porque não sabem o que fazem. Então, repartindo as vestes dele, lançaram sortes. 35 O povo estava ali e a tudo observava. Também as autoridades zombavam e diziam: Salvou os outros; a si mesmo se salve, se é, de fato, o Cristo de Deus, o escolhido. 36 Igualmente os soldados o escarneciam e, aproximando-se, trouxeram-lhe vinagre, dizendo: 37 Se tu és o rei dos judeus, salva-te a ti mesmo. 38 Também sobre ele estava esta epígrafe [em letras gregas, romanas e hebraicas]: ESTE É O REI DOS JUDEUS. 39 Um dos malfeitores crucificados blasfemava contra ele, dizendo: Não és tu o Cristo? Salva-te a ti mesmo e a nós também. 40 Respondendo-lhe, porém, o outro, repreendeu-o, dizendo: Nem ao menos temes a Deus, estando sob igual sentença? 41 Nós, na verdade, com justiça, porque recebemos o castigo que os nossos atos merecem; mas este nenhum mal fez. 42 E acrescentou: Jesus, lembra-te de mim quando vieres no teu reino. 43 Jesus lhe respondeu: Em verdade te digo que hoje estarás comigo no paraíso. 44 Já era quase a hora sexta, e, escurecendo-se o sol, houve trevas sobre toda a terra até à hora nona. 45 E rasgou-se pelo meio o véu do santuário. 46 Então, Jesus clamou em alta voz: Pai, nas tuas mãos entrego o meu espírito! E, dito isto, expirou. 47 Vendo o centurião o que tinha acontecido, deu glória a Deus, dizendo: Verdadeiramente, este homem era justo. 48 E todas as multidões reunidas para este espetáculo, vendo o que havia acontecido, retiraram-se a lamentar, batendo nos peitos. 49 Entretanto, todos os conhecidos de Jesus e as mulheres que o tinham seguido desde a Galiléia permaneceram a contemplar de longe estas coisas. 50 E eis que certo homem, chamado José, membro do Sinédrio, homem bom e justo 51 (que não tinha concordado com o desígnio e ação dos outros), natural de Arimatéia, cidade dos judeus, e que esperava o reino de Deus, 52 tendo procurado a Pilatos, pediu-lhe o corpo de Jesus, 53 e, tirando-o do madeiro, envolveu-o num lençol de linho, e o depositou num túmulo aberto em rocha, onde ainda ninguém havia sido sepultado. 54 Era o dia da preparação, e começava o sábado. 55 As mulheres que tinham vindo da Galiléia com Jesus, seguindo, viram o túmulo e como o corpo fora ali depositado. 56 Então, se retiraram para preparar aromas e bálsamos. E, no sábado, descansaram, segundo o mandamento. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  23 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it. 4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. 5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place. 6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean. 7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. 8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. 9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. 11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. 12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves. 13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: 15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. 16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him. 17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) 18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: 19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) 20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. 21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. 22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. 23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. 24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. 25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will. 26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus. 27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. 28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. 31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? 32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. 33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. 38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews. 39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. 47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. 48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned. 49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things. 50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: 51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. 54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. 55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Jó 38 1 Depois disto, o SENHOR, do meio de um redemoinho, respondeu a Jó: 2 Quem é este que escurece os meus desígnios com palavras sem conhecimento? 3 Cinge, pois, os lombos como homem, pois eu te perguntarei, e tu me farás saber. 4 Onde estavas tu, quando eu lançava os fundamentos da terra? Dize-mo, se tens entendimento. 5 Quem lhe pôs as medidas, se é que o sabes? Ou quem estendeu sobre ela o cordel? 6 Sobre que estão fundadas as suas bases ou quem lhe assentou a pedra angular, 7 quando as estrelas da alva, juntas, alegremente cantavam, e rejubilavam todos os filhos de Deus? 8 Ou quem encerrou o mar com portas, quando irrompeu da madre; 9 quando eu lhe pus as nuvens por vestidura e a escuridão por fraldas? 10 Quando eu lhe tracei limites, e lhe pus ferrolhos e portas, 11 e disse: até aqui virás e não mais adiante, e aqui se quebrará o orgulho das tuas ondas? 12 Acaso, desde que começaram os teus dias, deste ordem à madrugada ou fizeste a alva saber o seu lugar, 13 para que se apegasse às orlas da terra, e desta fossem os perversos sacudidos? 14 A terra se modela como o barro debaixo do selo, e tudo se apresenta como vestidos; 15 dos perversos se desvia a sua luz, e o braço levantado para ferir se quebranta. 16 Acaso, entraste nos mananciais do mar ou percorreste o mais profundo do abismo? 17 Porventura, te foram reveladas as portas da morte ou viste essas portas da região tenebrosa? 18 Tens idéia nítida da largura da terra? Dize-mo, se o sabes. 19 Onde está o caminho para a morada da luz? E, quanto às trevas, onde é o seu lugar, 20 para que as conduzas aos seus limites e discirnas as veredas para a sua casa? 21 Tu o sabes, porque nesse tempo eras nascido e porque é grande o número dos teus dias! 22 Acaso, entraste nos depósitos da neve e viste os tesouros da saraiva, 23 que eu retenho até ao tempo da angústia, até ao dia da peleja e da guerra? 24 Onde está o caminho para onde se difunde a luz e se espalha o vento oriental sobre a terra? 25 Quem abriu regos para o aguaceiro ou caminho para os relâmpagos dos trovões; 26 para que se faça chover sobre a terra, onde não há ninguém, e no ermo, em que não há gente; 27 para dessedentar a terra deserta e assolada e para fazer crescer os renovos da erva? 28 Acaso, a chuva tem pai? Ou quem gera as gotas do orvalho? 29 De que ventre procede o gelo? E quem dá à luz a geada do céu? 30 As águas ficam duras como a pedra, e a superfície das profundezas se torna compacta. 31 Ou poderás tu atar as cadeias do Sete-estrelo ou soltar os laços do Órion? 32 Ou fazer aparecer os signos do Zodíaco ou guiar a Ursa com seus filhos? 33 Sabes tu as ordenanças dos céus, podes estabelecer a sua influência sobre a terra? 34 Podes levantar a tua voz até às nuvens, para que a abundância das águas te cubra? 35 Ou ordenarás aos relâmpagos que saiam e te digam: Eis-nos aqui? 36 Quem pôs sabedoria nas camadas de nuvens? Ou quem deu entendimento ao meteoro? 37 Quem pode numerar com sabedoria as nuvens? Ou os odres dos céus, quem os pode despejar, 38 para que o pó se transforme em massa sólida, e os torrões se apeguem uns aos outros? 39 Caçarás, porventura, a presa para a leoa? LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version      Êxodo 18 Lucas 22  Jó 37 LEITURA  8º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Êxodo 18 1 Ora, Jetro, sacerdote de Midiã, sogro de Moisés, ouviu todas as coisas que Deus tinha feito a Moisés e a Israel, seu povo; como o SENHOR trouxera a Israel do Egito. 2 Jetro, sogro de Moisés, tomou a Zípora, mulher de Moisés, depois que este lha enviara, 3 com os dois filhos dela, dos quais um se chamava Gérson, pois disse Moisés: Fui peregrino em terra estrangeira; 4 e o outro, Eliézer, pois disse: O Deus de meu pai foi a minha ajuda e me livrou da espada de Faraó. 5 Veio Jetro, sogro de Moisés, com os filhos e a mulher deste, a Moisés no deserto onde se achava acampado, junto ao monte de Deus, 6 e mandou dizer a Moisés: Eu, teu sogro Jetro, venho a ti, com a tua mulher e seus dois filhos. 7 Então, saiu Moisés ao encontro do seu sogro, inclinou-se e o beijou; e, indagando pelo bem-estar um do outro, entraram na tenda. 8 Contou Moisés a seu sogro tudo o que o SENHOR havia feito a Faraó e aos egípcios por amor de Israel, e todo o trabalho que passaram no Egito, e como o SENHOR os livrara. 9 Alegrou-se Jetro de todo o bem que o SENHOR fizera a Israel, livrando-o da mão dos egípcios, 10 e disse: Bendito seja o SENHOR, que vos livrou da mão dos egípcios e da mão de Faraó; 11 agora, sei que o SENHOR é maior que todos os deuses, porque livrou este povo de debaixo da mão dos egípcios, quando agiram arrogantemente contra o povo. 12 Então, Jetro, sogro de Moisés, tomou holocausto e sacrifícios para Deus; e veio Arão e todos os anciãos de Israel para comerem pão com o sogro de Moisés, diante de Deus. 13 No dia seguinte, assentou-se Moisés para julgar o povo; e o povo estava em pé diante de Moisés desde a manhã até ao pôr-do-sol. 14 Vendo, pois, o sogro de Moisés tudo o que ele fazia ao povo, disse: Que é isto que fazes ao povo? Por que te assentas só, e todo o povo está em pé diante de ti, desde a manhã até ao pôr-do-sol? 15 Respondeu Moisés a seu sogro: É porque o povo me vem a mim para consultar a Deus; 16 quando tem alguma questão, vem a mim, para que eu julgue entre um e outro e lhes declare os estatutos de Deus e as suas leis. 17 O sogro de Moisés, porém, lhe disse: Não é bom o que fazes. 18 Sem dúvida, desfalecerás, tanto tu como este povo que está contigo; pois isto é pesado demais para ti; tu só não o podes fazer. 19 Ouve, pois, as minhas palavras; eu te aconselharei, e Deus seja contigo; representa o povo perante Deus, leva as suas causas a Deus, 20 ensina-lhes os estatutos e as leis e faze-lhes saber o caminho em que devem andar e a obra que devem fazer. 21 Procura dentre o povo homens capazes, tementes a Deus, homens de verdade, que aborreçam a avareza; põe-nos sobre eles por chefes de mil, chefes de cem, chefes de cinqüenta e chefes de dez; 22 para que julguem este povo em todo tempo. Toda causa grave trarão a ti, mas toda causa pequena eles mesmos julgarão; será assim mais fácil para ti, e eles levarão a carga contigo. 23 Se isto fizeres, e assim Deus to mandar, poderás, então, suportar; e assim também todo este povo tornará em paz ao seu lugar. 24 Moisés atendeu às palavras de seu sogro e fez tudo quanto este lhe dissera. 25 Escolheu Moisés homens capazes, de todo o Israel, e os constituiu por cabeças sobre o povo: chefes de mil, chefes de cem, chefes de cinqüenta e chefes de dez. 26 Estes julgaram o povo em todo tempo; a causa grave trouxeram a Moisés e toda causa simples julgaram eles. 27 Então, se despediu Moisés de seu sogro, e este se foi para a sua terra. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  18 When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt; 2 Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back, 3 And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land: 4 And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh: 5 And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God: 6 And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her. 7 And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent. 8 And Moses told his father in law all that the Lord had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the Lord delivered them. 9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the Lord had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians. 10 And Jethro said, Blessed be the Lord, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. 11 Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them. 12 And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God. 13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. 14 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: 16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. 25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. 27 And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Lucas 22 1 Estava próxima a Festa dos Pães Asmos, chamada Páscoa. 2 Preocupavam-se os principais sacerdotes e os escribas em como tirar a vida a Jesus; porque temiam o povo. 3 Ora, Satanás entrou em Judas, chamado Iscariotes, que era um dos doze. 4 Este foi entender-se com os principais sacerdotes e os capitães sobre como lhes entregaria a Jesus; 5 então, eles se alegraram e combinaram em lhe dar dinheiro. 6 Judas concordou e buscava uma boa ocasião de lho entregar sem tumulto. 7 Chegou o dia da Festa dos Pães Asmos, em que importava comemorar a Páscoa. 8 Jesus, pois, enviou Pedro e João, dizendo: Ide preparar-nos a Páscoa para que a comamos. 9 Eles lhe perguntaram: Onde queres que a preparemos? 10 Então, lhes explicou Jesus: Ao entrardes na cidade, encontrareis um homem com um cântaro de água; segui-o até à casa em que ele entrar 11 e dizei ao dono da casa: O Mestre manda perguntar-te: Onde é o aposento no qual hei de comer a Páscoa com os meus discípulos? 12 Ele vos mostrará um espaçoso cenáculo mobilado; ali fazei os preparativos. 13 E, indo, tudo encontraram como Jesus lhes dissera e prepararam a Páscoa. 14 Chegada a hora, pôs-se Jesus à mesa, e com ele os apóstolos. 15 E disse-lhes: Tenho desejado ansiosamente comer convosco esta Páscoa, antes do meu sofrimento. 16 Pois vos digo que nunca mais a comerei, até que ela se cumpra no reino de Deus. 17 E, tomando um cálice, havendo dado graças, disse: Recebei e reparti entre vós; 18 pois vos digo que, de agora em diante, não mais beberei do fruto da videira, até que venha o reino de Deus. 19 E, tomando um pão, tendo dado graças, o partiu e lhes deu, dizendo: Isto é o meu corpo oferecido por vós; fazei isto em memória de mim. 20 Semelhantemente, depois de cear, tomou o cálice, dizendo: Este é o cálice da nova aliança no meu sangue derramado em favor de vós. 21 Todavia, a mão do traidor está comigo à mesa. 22 Porque o Filho do Homem, na verdade, vai segundo o que está determinado, mas ai daquele por intermédio de quem ele está sendo traído! 23 Então, começaram a indagar entre si quem seria, dentre eles, o que estava para fazer isto. 24 Suscitaram também entre si uma discussão sobre qual deles parecia ser o maior. 25 Mas Jesus lhes disse: Os reis dos povos dominam sobre eles, e os que exercem autoridade são chamados benfeitores. 26 Mas vós não sois assim; pelo contrário, o maior entre vós seja como o menor; e aquele que dirige seja como o que serve. 27 Pois qual é maior: quem está à mesa ou quem serve? Porventura, não é quem está à mesa? Pois, no meio de vós, eu sou como quem serve. 28 Vós sois os que tendes permanecido comigo nas minhas tentações. 29 Assim como meu Pai me confiou um reino, eu vo-lo confio, 30 para que comais e bebais à minha mesa no meu reino; e vos assentareis em tronos para julgar as doze tribos de Israel. 31 Simão, Simão, eis que Satanás vos reclamou para vos peneirar como trigo! 32 Eu, porém, roguei por ti, para que a tua fé não desfaleça; tu, pois, quando te converteres, fortalece os teus irmãos. 33 Ele, porém, respondeu: Senhor, estou pronto a ir contigo, tanto para a prisão como para a morte. 34 Mas Jesus lhe disse: Afirmo-te, Pedro, que, hoje, três vezes negarás que me conheces, antes que o galo cante. 35 A seguir, Jesus lhes perguntou: Quando vos mandei sem bolsa, sem alforje e sem sandálias, faltou-vos, porventura, alguma coisa? Nada, disseram eles. 36 Então, lhes disse: Agora, porém, quem tem bolsa, tome-a, como também o alforje; e o que não tem espada, venda a sua capa e compre uma. 37 Pois vos digo que importa que se cumpra em mim o que está escrito: Ele foi contado com os malfeitores. Porque o que a mim se refere está sendo cumprido. 38 Então, lhe disseram: Senhor, eis aqui duas espadas! Respondeu-lhes: Basta! 39 E, saindo, foi, como de costume, para o monte das Oliveiras; e os discípulos o acompanharam. 40 Chegando ao lugar escolhido, Jesus lhes disse: Orai, para que não entreis em tentação. 41 Ele, por sua vez, se afastou, cerca de um tiro de pedra, e, de joelhos, orava, 42 dizendo: Pai, se queres, passa de mim este cálice; contudo, não se faça a minha vontade, e sim a tua. 43 [Então, lhe apareceu um anjo do céu que o confortava. 44 E, estando em agonia, orava mais intensamente. E aconteceu que o seu suor se tornou como gotas de sangue caindo sobre a terra.] 45 Levantando-se da oração, foi ter com os discípulos, e os achou dormindo de tristeza, 46 e disse-lhes: Por que estais dormindo? Levantai-vos e orai, para que não entreis em tentação. 47 Falava ele ainda, quando chegou uma multidão; e um dos doze, o chamado Judas, que vinha à frente deles, aproximou-se de Jesus para o beijar. 48 Jesus, porém, lhe disse: Judas, com um beijo trais o Filho do Homem? 49 Os que estavam ao redor dele, vendo o que ia suceder, perguntaram: Senhor, feriremos à espada? 50 Um deles feriu o servo do sumo sacerdote e cortou-lhe a orelha direita. 51 Mas Jesus acudiu, dizendo: Deixai, basta. E, tocando-lhe a orelha, o curou. 52 Então, dirigindo-se Jesus aos principais sacerdotes, capitães do templo e anciãos que vieram prendê-lo, disse: Saístes com espadas e porretes como para deter um salteador? 53 Diariamente, estando eu convosco no templo, não pusestes as mãos sobre mim. Esta, porém, é a vossa hora e o poder das trevas. 54 Então, prendendo-o, o levaram e o introduziram na casa do sumo sacerdote. Pedro seguia de longe. 55 E, quando acenderam fogo no meio do pátio e juntos se assentaram, Pedro tomou lugar entre eles. 56 Entrementes, uma criada, vendo-o assentado perto do fogo, fitando-o, disse: Este também estava com ele. 57 Mas Pedro negava, dizendo: Mulher, não o conheço. 58 Pouco depois, vendo-o outro, disse: Também tu és dos tais. Pedro, porém, protestava: Homem, não sou. 59 E, tendo passado cerca de uma hora, outro afirmava, dizendo: Também este, verdadeiramente, estava com ele, porque também é galileu. 60 Mas Pedro insistia: Homem, não compreendo o que dizes. E logo, estando ele ainda a falar, cantou o galo. 61 Então, voltando-se o Senhor, fixou os olhos em Pedro, e Pedro se lembrou da palavra do Senhor, como lhe dissera: Hoje, três vezes me negarás, antes de cantar o galo. 62 Então, Pedro, saindo dali, chorou amargamente. 63 Os que detinham Jesus zombavam dele, davam-lhe pancadas e, 64 vendando-lhe os olhos, diziam: Profetiza-nos: quem é que te bateu? 65 E muitas outras coisas diziam contra ele, blasfemando. 66 Logo que amanheceu, reuniu-se a assembléia dos anciãos do povo, tanto os principais sacerdotes como os escribas, e o conduziram ao Sinédrio, onde lhe disseram: 67 Se tu és o Cristo, dize-nos. Então, Jesus lhes respondeu: Se vo-lo disser, não o acreditareis; 68 também, se vos perguntar, de nenhum modo me respondereis. 69 Desde agora, estará sentado o Filho do Homem à direita do Todo-Poderoso Deus. 70 Então, disseram todos: Logo, tu és o Filho de Deus? E ele lhes respondeu: Vós dizeis que eu sou. 71 Clamaram, pois: Que necessidade mais temos de testemunho? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. 39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. 47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? 49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? 50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? 53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. 57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Jó 37 1 Sobre isto treme também o meu coração e salta do seu lugar. 2 Dai ouvidos ao trovão de Deus, estrondo que sai da sua boca; 3 ele o solta por debaixo de todos os céus, e o seu relâmpago, até aos confins da terra. 4 Depois deste, ruge a sua voz, troveja com o estrondo da sua majestade, e já ele não retém o relâmpago quando lhe ouvem a voz. 5 Com a sua voz troveja Deus maravilhosamente; faz grandes coisas, que nós não compreendemos. 6 Porque ele diz à neve: Cai sobre a terra; e à chuva e ao aguaceiro: Sede fortes. 7 Assim, torna ele inativas as mãos de todos os homens, para que reconheçam as obras dele. 8 E as alimárias entram nos seus esconderijos e ficam nas suas cavernas. 9 De suas recâmaras sai o pé-de-vento, e, dos ventos do norte, o frio. 10 Pelo sopro de Deus se dá a geada, e as largas águas se congelam. 11 Também de umidade carrega as densas nuvens, nuvens que espargem os relâmpagos. 12 Então, elas, segundo o rumo que ele dá, se espalham para uma e outra direção, para fazerem tudo o que lhes ordena sobre a redondeza da terra. 13 E tudo isso faz ele vir para disciplina, se convém à terra, ou para exercer a sua misericórdia. 14 Inclina, Jó, os ouvidos a isto, pára e considera as maravilhas de Deus. 15 Porventura, sabes tu como Deus as opera e como faz resplandecer o relâmpago da sua nuvem? 16 Tens tu notícia do equilíbrio das nuvens e das maravilhas daquele que é perfeito em conhecimento? 17 Que faz aquecer as tuas vestes, quando há calma sobre a terra por causa do vento sul? 18 Ou estendeste com ele o firmamento, que é sólido como espelho fundido? 19 Ensina-nos o que lhe diremos; porque nós, envoltos em trevas, nada lhe podemos expor. 20 Contar-lhe-ia alguém o que tenho dito? Seria isso desejar o homem ser devorado. 21 Eis que o homem não pode olhar para o sol, que brilha no céu, uma vez passado o vento que o deixa limpo. 22 Do norte vem o áureo esplendor, pois Deus está cercado de tremenda majestade. 23 Ao Todo-Poderoso, não o podemos alcançar; ele é grande em poder, porém não perverte o juízo e a plenitude da justiça. 24 Por isso, os homens o temem; ele não olha para os que se julgam sábios. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  37 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. 2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. 3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. 4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. 6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. 7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work. 8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. 9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. 10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. 11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: 12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. 13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. 15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? 17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? 18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. 21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. 22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦
