LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version      Números 24 Salmos 66 Salmos 67  Isaías 14 LEITURA  15º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Números 24 1 Vendo Balaão que bem parecia aos olhos do SENHOR que abençoasse a Israel, não foi esta vez, como antes, ao encontro de agouros, mas voltou o rosto para o deserto. 2 Levantando Balaão os olhos e vendo Israel acampado segundo as suas tribos, veio sobre ele o Espírito de Deus. 3 Proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Palavra de Balaão, filho de Beor, palavra do homem de olhos abertos; 4 palavra daquele que ouve os ditos de Deus, o que tem a visão do Todo-Poderoso e prostra-se, porém de olhos abertos: 5 Que boas são as tuas tendas, ó Jacó! Que boas são as tuas moradas, ó Israel! 6 Como vales que se estendem, como jardins à beira dos rios, como árvores de sândalo que o SENHOR plantou, como cedros junto às águas. 7 Águas manarão de seus baldes, e as suas sementeiras terão águas abundantes; o seu rei se levantará mais do que Agague, e o seu reino será exaltado. 8 Deus tirou do Egito a Israel, cujas forças são como as do boi selvagem; consumirá as nações, seus inimigos, e quebrará seus ossos, e, com as suas setas, os atravessará. 9 Este abaixou-se, deitou-se como leão e como leoa; quem o despertará? Benditos os que te abençoarem, e malditos os que te amaldiçoarem. 10 Então, a ira de Balaque se acendeu contra Balaão, e bateu ele as suas palmas. Disse Balaque a Balaão: Chamei-te para amaldiçoares os meus inimigos; porém, agora, já três vezes, somente os abençoaste. 11 Agora, pois, vai-te embora para tua casa; eu dissera que te cumularia de honras; mas eis que o SENHOR te privou delas. 12 Então, Balaão disse a Balaque: Não falei eu também aos teus mensageiros, que me enviaste, dizendo: 13 ainda que Balaque me desse a sua casa cheia de prata e ouro, não poderia traspassar o mandado do SENHOR, fazendo de mim mesmo bem ou mal; o que o SENHOR falar, isso falarei? 14 Agora, eis que vou ao meu povo; vem, avisar-te-ei do que fará este povo ao teu, nos últimos dias. 15 Então, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Palavra de Balaão, filho de Beor, palavra do homem de olhos abertos, 16 palavra daquele que ouve os ditos de Deus e sabe a ciência do Altíssimo; daquele que tem a visão do Todo-Poderoso e prostra-se, porém de olhos abertos: 17 Vê-lo-ei, mas não agora; contemplá-lo-ei, mas não de perto; uma estrela procederá de Jacó, de Israel subirá um cetro que ferirá as têmporas de Moabe e destruirá todos os filhos de Sete. 18 Edom será uma possessão; Seir, seus inimigos, também será uma possessão; mas Israel fará proezas. 19 De Jacó sairá o dominador e exterminará os que restam das cidades. 20 Viu Balaão a Amaleque, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Amaleque é o primeiro das nações; porém o seu fim será destruição. 21 Viu os queneus, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Segura está a tua habitação, e puseste o teu ninho na penha. 22 Todavia, o queneu será consumido. Até quando? Assur te levará cativo. 23 Proferiu ainda a sua palavra e disse: Ai! Quem viverá, quando Deus fizer isto? 24 Homens virão das costas de Quitim em suas naus; afligirão a Assur e a Héber; e também eles mesmos perecerão. 25 Então, Balaão se levantou, e se foi, e voltou para a sua terra; e também Balaque se foi pelo seu caminho. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  24 And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. 2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him. 3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: 4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: 5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! 6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. 7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. 8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. 9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee. 10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times. 11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour. 12 And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying, 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak? 14 And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days. 15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: 16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: 17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. 18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly. 19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. 20 And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever. 21 And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock. 22 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive. 23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this! 24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever. 25 And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Salmos 66 1 Aclamai a Deus, toda a terra. 2 Salmodiai a glória do seu nome, dai glória ao seu louvor. 3 Dizei a Deus: Que tremendos são os teus feitos! Pela grandeza do teu poder, a ti se mostram submissos os teus inimigos. 4 Prostra-se toda a terra perante ti, canta salmos a ti; salmodia o teu nome. 5 Vinde e vede as obras de Deus: tremendos feitos para com os filhos dos homens! 6 Converteu o mar em terra seca; atravessaram o rio a pé; ali, nos alegramos nele. 7 Ele, em seu poder, governa eternamente; os seus olhos vigiam as nações; não se exaltem os rebeldes. 8 Bendizei, ó povos, o nosso Deus; fazei ouvir a voz do seu louvor; 9 o que preserva com vida a nossa alma e não permite que nos resvalem os pés. 10 Pois tu, ó Deus, nos provaste; acrisolaste-nos como se acrisola a prata. 11 Tu nos deixaste cair na armadilha; oprimiste as nossas costas; 12 fizeste que os homens cavalgassem sobre a nossa cabeça; passamos pelo fogo e pela água; porém, afinal, nos trouxeste para um lugar espaçoso. 13 Entrarei na tua casa com holocaustos; pagar-te-ei os meus votos, 14 que proferiram os meus lábios, e que, no dia da angústia, prometeu a minha boca. 15 Oferecer-te-ei holocaustos de vítimas cevadas, com aroma de carneiros; imolarei novilhos com cabritos. 16 Vinde, ouvi, todos vós que temeis a Deus, e vos contarei o que tem ele feito por minha alma. 17 A ele clamei com a boca, com a língua o exaltei. 18 Se eu no coração contemplara a vaidade, o Senhor não me teria ouvido. 19 Entretanto, Deus me tem ouvido e me tem atendido a voz da oração. 20 Bendito seja Deus, que não me rejeita a oração, nem aparta de mim a sua graça. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  66 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: 2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. 3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. 4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.  5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. 6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him. 7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves.  8 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: 9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. 10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. 11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. 12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. 13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows, 14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble. 15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats.  16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. 17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: 19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. 20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Salmos 67 1 Seja Deus gracioso para conosco, e nos abençoe, e faça resplandecer sobre nós o rosto; 2 para que se conheça na terra o teu caminho e, em todas as nações, a tua salvação. 3 Louvem-te os povos, ó Deus; louvem-te os povos todos. 4 Alegrem-se e exultem as gentes, pois julgas os povos com eqüidade e guias na terra as nações. 5 Louvem-te os povos, ó Deus; louvem-te os povos todos. 6 A terra deu o seu fruto, e Deus, o nosso Deus, nos abençoa. 7 Abençoe-nos Deus, e todos os confins da terra o temerão. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  67 God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us;  2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. 3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.  5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. 7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Isaías 14 1 Porque o SENHOR se compadecerá de Jacó, e ainda elegerá a Israel, e os porá na sua própria terra; e unir-se-ão a eles os estrangeiros, e estes se achegarão à casa de Jacó. 2 Os povos os tomarão e os levarão aos lugares deles, e a casa de Israel possuirá esses povos por servos e servas, na terra do SENHOR; cativarão aqueles que os cativaram e dominarão os seus opressores. 3 No dia em que Deus vier a dar-te descanso do teu trabalho, das tuas angústias e da dura servidão com que te fizeram servir, 4 então, proferirás este motejo contra o rei da Babilônia e dirás: Como cessou o opressor! Como acabou a tirania! 5 Quebrou o SENHOR a vara dos perversos e o cetro dos dominadores, 6 que feriam os povos com furor, com golpes incessantes, e com ira dominavam as nações, com perseguição irreprimível. 7 Já agora descansa e está sossegada toda a terra. Todos exultam de júbilo. 8 Até os ciprestes se alegram sobre ti, e os cedros do Líbano exclamam: Desde que tu caíste, ninguém já sobe contra nós para nos cortar. 9 O além, desde o profundo, se turba por ti, para te sair ao encontro na tua chegada; ele, por tua causa, desperta as sombras e todos os príncipes da terra e faz levantar dos seus tronos a todos os reis das nações. 10 Todos estes respondem e te dizem: Tu também, como nós, estás fraco? E és semelhante a nós? 11 Derribada está na cova a tua soberba, e, também, o som da tua harpa; por baixo de ti, uma cama de gusanos, e os vermes são a tua coberta. 12 Como caíste do céu, ó estrela da manhã, filho da alva! Como foste lançado por terra, tu que debilitavas as nações! 13 Tu dizias no teu coração: Eu subirei ao céu; acima das estrelas de Deus exaltarei o meu trono e no monte da congregação me assentarei, nas extremidades do Norte; 14 subirei acima das mais altas nuvens e serei semelhante ao Altíssimo. 15 Contudo, serás precipitado para o reino dos mortos, no mais profundo do abismo. 16 Os que te virem te contemplarão, hão de fitar-te e dizer-te: É este o homem que fazia estremecer a terra e tremer os reinos? 17 Que punha o mundo como um deserto e assolava as suas cidades? Que a seus cativos não deixava ir para casa? 18 Todos os reis das nações, sim, todos eles, jazem com honra, cada um, no seu túmulo. 19 Mas tu és lançado fora da tua sepultura, como um renovo bastardo, coberto de mortos traspassados à espada, cujo cadáver desce à cova e é pisado de pedras. 20 Com eles não te reunirás na sepultura, porque destruíste a tua terra e mataste o teu povo; a descendência dos malignos jamais será nomeada. 21 Preparai a matança para os filhos, por causa da maldade de seus pais, para que não se levantem, e possuam a terra, e encham o mundo de cidades. 22 Levantar-me-ei contra eles, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos; exterminarei de Babilônia o nome e os sobreviventes, os descendentes e a posteridade, diz o SENHOR. 23 Reduzi-la-ei a possessão de ouriços e a lagoas de águas; varrê-la-ei com a vassoura da destruição, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos. 24 Jurou o SENHOR dos Exércitos, dizendo: Como pensei, assim sucederá, e, como determinei, assim se efetuará. 25 Quebrantarei a Assíria na minha terra e nas minhas montanhas a pisarei, para que o seu jugo se aparte de Israel, e a sua carga se desvie dos ombros dele. 26 Este é o desígnio que se formou concernente a toda a terra; e esta é a mão que está estendida sobre todas as nações. 27 Porque o SENHOR dos Exércitos o determinou; quem, pois, o invalidará? A sua mão está estendida; quem, pois, a fará voltar atrás? 28 No ano em que morreu o rei Acaz, foi pronunciada esta sentença: 29 Não te alegres, tu, toda a Filístia, por estar quebrada a vara que te feria; porque da estirpe da cobra sairá uma áspide, e o seu fruto será uma serpente voadora. 30 Os primogênitos dos pobres serão apascentados, e os necessitados se deitarão seguros; mas farei morrer de fome a tua raiz, e serão destruídos os teus sobreviventes. 31 Uiva, ó porta; grita, ó cidade; tu, ó Filístia toda, treme; porque do Norte vem fumaça, e ninguém há que se afaste das fileiras. 32 Que se responderá, pois, aos mensageiros dos gentios? Que o SENHOR fundou a Sião, e nela encontram refúgio os aflitos do seu povo. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  14 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. 3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, 4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! 5 The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. 6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. 7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing. 8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us. 9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. 10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? 11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. 12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. 16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; 17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? 18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. 19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. 20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. 21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities. 22 For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord. 23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of hosts. 24 The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. 26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. 27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? 28 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden. 29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. 30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant. 31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times. 32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? Então, subiu a um morro desnudo. 4 Encontrando-se Deus com Balaão, este lhe disse: Preparei sete altares e sobre cada um ofereci um novilho e um carneiro. 5 Então, o SENHOR pôs a palavra na boca de Balaão e disse: Torna para Balaque e falarás assim. 6 E, tornando para ele, eis que estava junto do seu holocausto, ele e todos os príncipes dos moabitas. 7 Então, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Balaque me fez vir de Arã, o rei de Moabe, dos montes do Oriente; vem, amaldiçoa-me a Jacó, e vem, denuncia a Israel. 8 Como posso amaldiçoar a quem Deus não amaldiçoou? Como posso denunciar a quem o SENHOR não denunciou? 9 Pois do cimo das penhas vejo Israel e dos outeiros o contemplo: eis que é povo que habita só e não será reputado entre as nações. 10 Quem contou o pó de Jacó ou enumerou a quarta parte de Israel? Que eu morra a morte dos justos, e o meu fim seja como o dele. 11 Então, disse Balaque a Balaão: Que me fizeste? Chamei-te para amaldiçoar os meus inimigos, mas eis que somente os abençoaste. 12 Mas ele respondeu: Porventura, não terei cuidado de falar o que o SENHOR pôs na minha boca? 13 Então, Balaque lhe disse: Rogo-te que venhas comigo a outro lugar, donde verás o povo; verás somente a parte mais próxima dele e não o verás todo; e amaldiçoa-mo dali. 14 Levou-o consigo ao campo de Zofim, ao cimo de Pisga; e edificou sete altares e sobre cada um ofereceu um novilho e um carneiro. 15 Então, disse Balaão a Balaque: Fica, aqui, junto do teu holocausto, e eu irei ali ao encontro do SENHOR. 16 Encontrando-se o SENHOR com Balaão, pôs-lhe na boca a palavra e disse: Torna para Balaque e assim falarás. 17 Vindo a ele, eis que estava junto do holocausto, e os príncipes dos moabitas, com ele. Perguntou-lhe, pois, Balaque: Que falou o SENHOR? 18 Então, proferiu a sua palavra e disse: Levanta-te, Balaque, e ouve; escuta-me, filho de Zipor: 19 Deus não é homem, para que minta; nem filho de homem, para que se arrependa. Porventura, tendo ele prometido, não o fará? Ou, tendo falado, não o cumprirá? 20 Eis que para abençoar recebi ordem; ele abençoou, não o posso revogar. 21 Não viu iniqüidade em Jacó, nem contemplou desventura em Israel; o SENHOR, seu Deus, está com ele, no meio dele se ouvem aclamações ao seu Rei. 22 Deus os tirou do Egito; as forças deles são como as do boi selvagem. 23 Pois contra Jacó não vale encantamento, nem adivinhação contra Israel; agora, se poderá dizer de Jacó e de Israel: Que coisas tem feito Deus! 24 Eis que o povo se levanta como leoa e se ergue como leão; não se deita até que devore a presa e beba o sangue dos que forem mortos. 25 Então, disse Balaque a Balaão: Nem o amaldiçoarás, nem o abençoarás. 26 Porém Balaão respondeu e disse a Balaque: Não te disse eu: tudo o que o SENHOR falar, isso farei? 27 Disse mais Balaque a Balaão: Ora, vem, e te levarei a outro lugar; porventura, parecerá bem aos olhos de Deus que dali mo amaldiçoes. 28 Então, Balaque levou Balaão consigo ao cimo de Peor, que olha para o lado do deserto. 29 Balaão disse a Balaque: Edifica-me, aqui, sete altares e prepara-me sete novilhos e sete carneiros. 30 Balaque, pois, fez como dissera Balaão e ofereceu sobre cada altar um novilho e um carneiro. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  23 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams. 2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram. 3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the Lord will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place. 4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram. 5 And the Lord put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak. 6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab. 7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel. 8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied? 9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations. 10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! 11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether. 12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord hath put in my mouth? 13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence. 14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar. 15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the Lord yonder. 16 And the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus. 17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. O SENHOR dos Exércitos passa revista às tropas de guerra. 5 Já vêm de um país remoto, desde a extremidade do céu, o SENHOR e os instrumentos da sua indignação, para destruir toda a terra. 6 Uivai, pois está perto o Dia do SENHOR; vem do Todo-Poderoso como assolação. 7 Pelo que todos os braços se tornarão frouxos, e o coração de todos os homens se derreterá. 8 Assombrar-se-ão, e apoderar-se-ão deles dores e ais, e terão contorções como a mulher parturiente; olharão atônitos uns para outros; o seu rosto se tornará rosto flamejante. 9 Eis que vem o Dia do SENHOR, dia cruel, com ira e ardente furor, para converter a terra em assolação e dela destruir os pecadores. 10 Porque as estrelas e constelações dos céus não darão a sua luz; o sol, logo ao nascer, se escurecerá, e a lua não fará resplandecer a sua luz. 11 Castigarei o mundo por causa da sua maldade e os perversos, por causa da sua iniqüidade; farei cessar a arrogância dos atrevidos e abaterei a soberba dos violentos. 12 Farei que os homens sejam mais escassos do que o ouro puro, mais raros do que o ouro de Ofir. 13 Portanto, farei estremecer os céus; e a terra será sacudida do seu lugar, por causa da ira do SENHOR dos Exércitos e por causa do dia do seu ardente furor. 14 Cada um será como a gazela que foge e como o rebanho que ninguém recolhe; cada um voltará para o seu povo e cada um fugirá para a sua terra. 15 Quem for achado será traspassado; e aquele que for apanhado cairá à espada. 16 Suas crianças serão esmagadas perante eles; a sua casa será saqueada, e sua mulher, violada. 17 Eis que eu despertarei contra eles os medos, que não farão caso de prata, nem tampouco desejarão ouro. 18 Os seus arcos matarão os jovens; eles não se compadecerão do fruto do ventre; os seus olhos não pouparão as crianças. 19 Babilônia, a jóia dos reinos, glória e orgulho dos caldeus, será como Sodoma e Gomorra, quando Deus as transtornou. 20 Nunca jamais será habitada, ninguém morará nela de geração em geração; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children. 19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there;
