LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada   Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version  Gênesis 30 Marcos  1 Ester 6 LEITURA  29º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Gênesis 30 1 Vendo Raquel que não dava filhos a Jacó, teve ciúmes de sua irmã e disse a Jacó: Dá-me filhos, senão morrerei. 2 Então, Jacó se irou contra Raquel e disse: Acaso, estou eu em lugar de Deus que ao teu ventre impediu frutificar? 3 Respondeu ela: Eis aqui Bila, minha serva; coabita com ela, para que dê à luz, e eu traga filhos ao meu colo, por meio dela. 4 Assim, lhe deu a Bila, sua serva, por mulher; e Jacó a possuiu. 5 Bila concebeu e deu à luz um filho a Jacó. 6 Então, disse Raquel: Deus me julgou, e também me ouviu a voz, e me deu um filho; portanto, lhe chamou Dã. 7 Concebeu outra vez Bila, serva de Raquel, e deu à luz o segundo filho a Jacó. 8 Disse Raquel: Com grandes lutas tenho competido com minha irmã e logrei prevalecer; chamou-lhe, pois, Naftali. 9 Vendo Lia que ela mesma cessara de conceber, tomou também a Zilpa, sua serva, e deu-a a Jacó, por mulher. 10 Zilpa, serva de Lia, deu a Jacó um filho. 11 Disse Lia: Afortunada! E lhe chamou Gade. 12 Depois, Zilpa, serva de Lia, deu o segundo filho a Jacó. 13 Então, disse Lia: É a minha felicidade! Porque as filhas me terão por venturosa; e lhe chamou Aser. 14 Foi Rúben nos dias da ceifa do trigo, e achou mandrágoras no campo, e trouxe-as a Lia, sua mãe. Então, disse Raquel a Lia: Dá-me das mandrágoras de teu filho. 15 Respondeu ela: Achas pouco o me teres levado o marido? Tomarás também as mandrágoras de meu filho? Disse Raquel: Ele te possuirá esta noite, a troco das mandrágoras de teu filho. 16 À tarde, vindo Jacó do campo, saiu-lhe ao encontro Lia e lhe disse: Esta noite me possuirás, pois eu te aluguei pelas mandrágoras de meu filho. E Jacó, naquela noite, coabitou com ela. 17 Ouviu Deus a Lia; ela concebeu e deu à luz o quinto filho. 18 Então, disse Lia: Deus me recompensou, porque dei a minha serva a meu marido; e chamou-lhe Issacar. 19 E Lia, tendo concebido outra vez, deu a Jacó o sexto filho. 20 E disse: Deus me concedeu excelente dote; desta vez permanecerá comigo meu marido, porque lhe dei seis filhos; e lhe chamou Zebulom. 21 Depois disto, deu à luz uma filha e lhe chamou Diná. 22 Lembrou-se Deus de Raquel, ouviu-a e a fez fecunda. 23 Ela concebeu, deu à luz um filho e disse: Deus me tirou o meu vexame. 24 E lhe chamou José, dizendo: Dê-me o SENHOR ainda outro filho. 25 Tendo Raquel dado à luz a José, disse Jacó a Labão: Permite-me que eu volte ao meu lugar e à minha terra. 26 Dá-me meus filhos e as mulheres, pelas quais eu te servi, e partirei; pois tu sabes quanto e de que maneira te servi. 27 Labão lhe respondeu: Ache eu mercê diante de ti; fica comigo. Tenho experimentado que o SENHOR me abençoou por amor de ti. 28 E disse ainda: Fixa o teu salário, que te pagarei. 29 Disse-lhe Jacó: Tu sabes como te venho servindo e como cuidei do teu gado. 30 Porque o pouco que tinhas antes da minha vinda foi aumentado grandemente; e o SENHOR te abençoou por meu trabalho. Agora, pois, quando hei de eu trabalhar também por minha casa? 31 Então, Labão lhe perguntou: Que te darei? Respondeu Jacó: Nada me darás; tornarei a apascentar e a guardar o teu rebanho, se me fizeres isto: 32 Passarei hoje por todo o teu rebanho, separando dele os salpicados e malhados, e todos os negros entre os cordeiros, e o que é malhado e salpicado entre as cabras; será isto o meu salário. 33 Assim, responderá por mim a minha justiça, no dia de amanhã, quando vieres ver o meu salário diante de ti; o que não for salpicado e malhado entre as cabras e negro entre as ovelhas, esse, se for achado comigo, será tido por furtado. 34 Disse Labão: Pois sim! Seja conforme a tua palavra. 35 Mas, naquele mesmo dia, separou Labão os bodes listados e malhados e todas as cabras salpicadas e malhadas, todos os que tinham alguma brancura e todos os negros entre os cordeiros; e os passou às mãos de seus filhos. 36 E pôs a distância de três dias de jornada entre si e Jacó; e Jacó apascentava o restante dos rebanhos de Labão. 37 Tomou, então, Jacó varas verdes de álamo, de aveleira e de plátano e lhes removeu a casca, em riscas abertas, deixando aparecer a brancura das varas, 38 as quais, assim escorchadas, pôs ele em frente do rebanho, nos canais de água e nos bebedouros, aonde os rebanhos vinham para dessedentar-se, e conceberam quando vinham a beber. 39 E concebia o rebanho diante das varas, e as ovelhas davam crias listadas, salpicadas e malhadas. 40 Então, separou Jacó os cordeiros e virou o rebanho para o lado dos listados e dos pretos nos rebanhos de Labão; e pôs o seu rebanho à parte e não o juntou com o rebanho de Labão. 41 E, todas as vezes que concebiam as ovelhas fortes, punha Jacó as varas à vista do rebanho nos canais de água, para que concebessem diante das varas. 42 Porém, quando o rebanho era fraco, não as punha; assim, as fracas eram de Labão, e as fortes, de Jacó. 43 E o homem se tornou mais e mais rico; teve muitos rebanhos, e servas, e servos, e camelos, e jumentos. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  30 And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die. 2 And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb? 3 And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her. 4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her. 5 And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son. 6 And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan. 7 And Bilhah Rachel's maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son. 8 And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali. 9 When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife. 10 And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son. 11 And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name Gad. 12 And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a second son. 13 And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher. 14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes. 15 And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son's mandrakes. 16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night. 17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son. 18 And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar. 19 And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son. 20 And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun. 21 And afterwards she bare a daughter, and called her name Dinah. 22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb. 23 And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach: 24 And she called his name Joseph; and said, The Lord shall add to me another son. 25 And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country. 26 Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go: for thou knowest my service which I have done thee. 27 And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake. 28 And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it. 29 And he said unto him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle was with me. 30 For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the Lord hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also? 31 And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me any thing: if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock. 32 I will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire. 33 So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me. 34 And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word. 35 And he removed that day the he goats that were ringstraked and spotted, and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted, and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons. 36 And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks. 37 And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods. 38 And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink. 39 And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted. 40 And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle. 41 And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods. 42 But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's. 43 And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Marcos 1 1 Princípio do evangelho de Jesus Cristo, Filho de Deus. 2 Conforme está escrito na profecia de Isaías: Eis aí envio diante da tua face o meu mensageiro, o qual preparará o teu caminho; 3 voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do Senhor, endireitai as suas veredas; 4 apareceu João Batista no deserto, pregando batismo de arrependimento para remissão de pecados. 5 Saíam a ter com ele toda a província da Judéia e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém; e, confessando os seus pecados, eram batizados por ele no rio Jordão. 6 As vestes de João eram feitas de pêlos de camelo; ele trazia um cinto de couro e se alimentava de gafanhotos e mel silvestre. 7 E pregava, dizendo: Após mim vem aquele que é mais poderoso do que eu, do qual não sou digno de, curvando-me, desatar-lhe as correias das sandálias. 8 Eu vos tenho batizado com água; ele, porém, vos batizará com o Espírito Santo. 9 Naqueles dias, veio Jesus de Nazaré da Galiléia e por João foi batizado no rio Jordão. 10 Logo ao sair da água, viu os céus rasgarem-se e o Espírito descendo como pomba sobre ele. 11 Então, foi ouvida uma voz dos céus: Tu és o meu Filho amado, em ti me comprazo. 12 E logo o Espírito o impeliu para o deserto, 13 onde permaneceu quarenta dias, sendo tentado por Satanás; estava com as feras, mas os anjos o serviam. 14 Depois de João ter sido preso, foi Jesus para a Galiléia, pregando o evangelho de Deus, 15 dizendo: O tempo está cumprido, e o reino de Deus está próximo; arrependei-vos e crede no evangelho. 16 Caminhando junto ao mar da Galiléia, viu os irmãos Simão e André, que lançavam a rede ao mar, porque eram pescadores. 17 Disse-lhes Jesus: Vinde após mim, e eu vos farei pescadores de homens. 18 Então, eles deixaram imediatamente as redes e o seguiram. 19 Pouco mais adiante, viu Tiago, filho de Zebedeu, e João, seu irmão, que estavam no barco consertando as redes. 20 E logo os chamou. Deixando eles no barco a seu pai Zebedeu com os empregados, seguiram após Jesus. 21 Depois, entraram em Cafarnaum, e, logo no sábado, foi ele ensinar na sinagoga. 22 Maravilhavam-se da sua doutrina, porque os ensinava como quem tem autoridade e não como os escribas. 23 Não tardou que aparecesse na sinagoga um homem possesso de espírito imundo, o qual bradou: 24 Que temos nós contigo, Jesus Nazareno? Vieste para perder-nos? Bem sei quem és: o Santo de Deus! 25 Mas Jesus o repreendeu, dizendo: Cala-te e sai desse homem. 26 Então, o espírito imundo, agitando-o violentamente e bradando em alta voz, saiu dele. 27 Todos se admiraram, a ponto de perguntarem entre si: Que vem a ser isto? Uma nova doutrina! Com autoridade ele ordena aos espíritos imundos, e eles lhe obedecem! 28 Então, correu célere a fama de Jesus em todas as direções, por toda a circunvizinhança da Galiléia. 29 E, saindo eles da sinagoga, foram, com Tiago e João, diretamente para a casa de Simão e André. 30 A sogra de Simão achava-se acamada, com febre; e logo lhe falaram a respeito dela. 31 Então, aproximando-se, tomou-a pela mão; e a febre a deixou, passando ela a servi-los. 32 À tarde, ao cair do sol, trouxeram a Jesus todos os enfermos e endemoninhados. 33 Toda a cidade estava reunida à porta. 34 E ele curou muitos doentes de toda sorte de enfermidades; também expeliu muitos demônios, não lhes permitindo que falassem, porque sabiam quem ele era. 35 Tendo-se levantado alta madrugada, saiu, foi para um lugar deserto e ali orava. 36 Procuravam-no diligentemente Simão e os que com ele estavam. 37 Tendo-o encontrado, lhe disseram: Todos te buscam. 38 Jesus, porém, lhes disse: Vamos a outros lugares, às povoações vizinhas, a fim de que eu pregue também ali, pois para isso é que eu vim. 39 Então, foi por toda a Galiléia, pregando nas sinagogas deles e expelindo os demônios. 40 Aproximou-se dele um leproso rogando-lhe, de joelhos: Se quiseres, podes purificar-me. 41 Jesus, profundamente compadecido, estendeu a mão, tocou-o e disse-lhe: Quero, fica limpo! 42 No mesmo instante, lhe desapareceu a lepra, e ficou limpo. 43 Fazendo-lhe, então, veemente advertência, logo o despediu 44 e lhe disse: Olha, não digas nada a ninguém; mas vai, mostra-te ao sacerdote e oferece pela tua purificação o que Moisés determinou, para servir de testemunho ao povo. 45 Mas, tendo ele saído, entrou a propalar muitas coisas e a divulgar a notícia, a ponto de não mais poder Jesus entrar publicamente em qualquer cidade, mas permanecia fora, em lugares ermos; e de toda parte vinham ter com ele. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; 2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; 7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. 18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. 19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. 20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him. 21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. 22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. 28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. 29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. 37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. 38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. 39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. 40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. 42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. 43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; 44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Ester 6 1 Naquela noite, o rei não pôde dormir; então, mandou trazer o Livro dos Feitos Memoráveis, e nele se leu diante do rei. 2 Achou-se escrito que Mordecai é quem havia denunciado a Bigtã e a Teres, os dois eunucos do rei, guardas da porta, que tinham procurado matar o rei Assuero. 3 Então, disse o rei: Que honras e distinções se deram a Mordecai por isso? Nada lhe foi conferido, responderam os servos do rei que o serviam. 4 Perguntou o rei: Quem está no pátio? Ora, Hamã tinha entrado no pátio exterior da casa do rei, para dizer ao rei que se enforcasse a Mordecai na forca que ele, Hamã, lhe tinha preparado. 5 Os servos do rei lhe disseram: Hamã está no pátio. Disse o rei que entrasse. 6 Entrou Hamã. O rei lhe disse: Que se fará ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar? Então, Hamã disse consigo mesmo: De quem se agradaria o rei mais do que de mim para honrá-lo? 7 E respondeu ao rei: Quanto ao homem a quem agrada ao rei honrá-lo, 8 tragam-se as vestes reais, que o rei costuma usar, e o cavalo em que o rei costuma andar montado, e tenha na cabeça a coroa real; 9 entreguem-se as vestes e o cavalo às mãos dos mais nobres príncipes do rei, e vistam delas aquele a quem o rei deseja honrar; levem-no a cavalo pela praça da cidade e diante dele apregoem: Assim se faz ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar. 10 Então, disse o rei a Hamã: Apressa-te, toma as vestes e o cavalo, como disseste, e faze assim para com o judeu Mordecai, que está assentado à porta do rei; e não omitas coisa nenhuma de tudo quanto disseste. 11 Hamã tomou as vestes e o cavalo, vestiu a Mordecai, e o levou a cavalo pela praça da cidade, e apregoou diante dele: Assim se faz ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar. 12 Depois disto, Mordecai voltou para a porta do rei; porém Hamã se retirou correndo para casa, angustiado e de cabeça coberta. 13 Contou Hamã a Zeres, sua mulher, e a todos os seus amigos tudo quanto lhe tinha sucedido. Então, os seus sábios e Zeres, sua mulher, lhe disseram: Se Mordecai, perante o qual já começaste a cair, é da descendência dos judeus, não prevalecerás contra ele; antes, certamente, cairás diante dele. 14 Falavam estes ainda com ele quando chegaram os eunucos do rei e apressadamente levaram Hamã ao banquete que Ester preparara. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  6 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. 2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus. 3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him. 4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5 And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in. 6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself? 7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, 8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head: 9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour. 10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken. 11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour. 12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered. 13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him.
