LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version      Êxodo 6 Lucas 11  Jó 24 LEITURA  24º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Êxodo 6 1 Disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Agora, verás o que hei de fazer a Faraó; pois, por mão poderosa, os deixará ir e, por mão poderosa, os lançará fora da sua terra. 2 Falou mais Deus a Moisés e lhe disse: Eu sou o SENHOR. 3 Apareci a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó como Deus Todo-Poderoso; mas pelo meu nome, O SENHOR, não lhes fui conhecido. 4 Também estabeleci a minha aliança com eles, para dar-lhes a terra de Canaã, a terra em que habitaram como peregrinos. 5 Ainda ouvi os gemidos dos filhos de Israel, os quais os egípcios escravizam, e me lembrei da minha aliança. 6 Portanto, dize aos filhos de Israel: eu sou o SENHOR, e vos tirarei de debaixo das cargas do Egito, e vos livrarei da sua servidão, e vos resgatarei com braço estendido e com grandes manifestações de julgamento. 7 Tomar-vos-ei por meu povo e serei vosso Deus; e sabereis que eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus, que vos tiro de debaixo das cargas do Egito. 8 E vos levarei à terra a qual jurei dar a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó; e vo-la darei como possessão. Eu sou o SENHOR. 9 Desse modo falou Moisés aos filhos de Israel, mas eles não atenderam a Moisés, por causa da ânsia de espírito e da dura escravidão. 10 Falou mais o SENHOR a Moisés, dizendo: 11 Vai ter com Faraó, rei do Egito, e fala-lhe que deixe sair de sua terra os filhos de Israel. 12 Moisés, porém, respondeu ao SENHOR, dizendo: Eis que os filhos de Israel não me têm ouvido; como, pois, me ouvirá Faraó? E não sei falar bem. 13 Não obstante, falou o SENHOR a Moisés e a Arão e lhes deu mandamento para os filhos de Israel e para Faraó, rei do Egito, a fim de que tirassem os filhos de Israel da terra do Egito. 14 São estes os chefes das famílias: os filhos de Rúben, o primogênito de Israel: Enoque, Palu, Hezrom e Carmi; são estas as famílias de Rúben. 15 Os filhos de Simeão: Jemuel, Jamim, Oade, Jaquim, Zoar e Saul, filho de uma cananéia; são estas as famílias de Simeão. 16 São estes os nomes dos filhos de Levi, segundo as suas gerações: Gérson, Coate e Merari; e os anos da vida de Levi foram cento e trinta e sete. 17 Os filhos de Gérson: Libni e Simei, segundo as suas famílias. 18 Os filhos de Coate: Anrão, Isar, Hebrom e Uziel; e os anos da vida de Coate foram cento e trinta e três. 19 Os filhos de Merari: Mali e Musi; são estas as famílias de Levi, segundo as suas gerações. 20 Anrão tomou por mulher a Joquebede, sua tia; e ela lhe deu a Arão e Moisés; e os anos da vida de Anrão foram cento e trinta e sete. 21 Os filhos de Isar: Corá, Nefegue e Zicri. 22 Os filhos de Uziel: Misael, Elzafã e Sitri. 23 Arão tomou por mulher a Eliseba, filha de Aminadabe, irmã de Naassom; e ela lhe deu à luz Nadabe, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. 24 Os filhos de Corá: Assir, Elcana e Abiasafe; são estas as famílias dos coraítas. 25 Eleazar, filho de Arão, tomou por mulher, para si, uma das filhas de Putiel; e ela lhe deu à luz Finéias; são estes os chefes de suas casas, segundo as suas famílias. 26 São estes Arão e Moisés, aos quais o SENHOR disse: Tirai os filhos de Israel da terra do Egito, segundo as suas hostes. 27 São estes que falaram a Faraó, rei do Egito, a fim de tirarem do Egito os filhos de Israel; são estes Moisés e Arão. 28 No dia em que o SENHOR falou a Moisés na terra do Egito, 29 disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Eu sou o SENHOR; dize a Faraó, rei do Egito, tudo o que eu te digo. 30 Respondeu Moisés na presença do SENHOR: Eu não sei falar bem; como, pois, me ouvirá Faraó? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  6 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. 2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: 3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them. 4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. 5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: 7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord. 9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage. 10 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. 12 And Moses spake before the Lord, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips? 13 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. 14 These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben. 15 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon. 16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years. 17 The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families. 18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years. 19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families of Levi according to their generations. 20 And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years. 21 And the sons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri. 22 And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri. 23 And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 24 And the sons of Korah; Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph: these are the families of the Korhites. 25 And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families. 26 These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the Lord said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies. 27 These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron. 28 And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 That the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, I am the Lord: speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee. 30 And Moses said before the Lord, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Lucas 11 1 De uma feita, estava Jesus orando em certo lugar; quando terminou, um dos seus discípulos lhe pediu: Senhor, ensina-nos a orar como também João ensinou aos seus discípulos. 2 Então, ele os ensinou: Quando orardes, dizei: Pai, santificado seja o teu nome; venha o teu reino; 3 o pão nosso cotidiano dá-nos de dia em dia; 4 perdoa-nos os nossos pecados, pois também nós perdoamos a todo o que nos deve; e não nos deixes cair em tentação. 5 Disse-lhes ainda Jesus: Qual dentre vós, tendo um amigo, e este for procurá-lo à meia-noite e lhe disser: Amigo, empresta-me três pães, 6 pois um meu amigo, chegando de viagem, procurou-me, e eu nada tenho que lhe oferecer. 7 E o outro lhe responda lá de dentro, dizendo: Não me importunes; a porta já está fechada, e os meus filhos comigo também já estão deitados. Não posso levantar-me para tos dar; 8 digo-vos que, se não se levantar para dar-lhos por ser seu amigo, todavia, o fará por causa da importunação e lhe dará tudo o de que tiver necessidade. 9 Por isso, vos digo: Pedi, e dar-se-vos-á; buscai, e achareis; batei, e abrir-se-vos-á. 10 Pois todo o que pede recebe; o que busca encontra; e a quem bate, abrir-se-lhe-á. 11 Qual dentre vós é o pai que, se o filho lhe pedir [pão, lhe dará uma pedra? Ou se pedir] um peixe, lhe dará em lugar de peixe uma cobra? 12 Ou, se lhe pedir um ovo lhe dará um escorpião? 13 Ora, se vós, que sois maus, sabeis dar boas dádivas aos vossos filhos, quanto mais o Pai celestial dará o Espírito Santo àqueles que lho pedirem? 14 De outra feita, estava Jesus expelindo um demônio que era mudo. E aconteceu que, ao sair o demônio, o mudo passou a falar; e as multidões se admiravam. 15 Mas alguns dentre eles diziam: Ora, ele expele os demônios pelo poder de Belzebu, o maioral dos demônios. 16 E outros, tentando-o, pediam dele um sinal do céu. 17 E, sabendo ele o que se lhes passava pelo espírito, disse-lhes: Todo reino dividido contra si mesmo ficará deserto, e casa sobre casa cairá. 18 Se também Satanás estiver dividido contra si mesmo, como subsistirá o seu reino? Isto, porque dizeis que eu expulso os demônios por Belzebu. 19 E, se eu expulso os demônios por Belzebu, por quem os expulsam vossos filhos? Por isso, eles mesmos serão os vossos juízes. 20 Se, porém, eu expulso os demônios pelo dedo de Deus, certamente, é chegado o reino de Deus sobre vós. 21 Quando o valente, bem armado, guarda a sua própria casa, ficam em segurança todos os seus bens. 22 Sobrevindo, porém, um mais valente do que ele, vence-o, tira-lhe a armadura em que confiava e lhe divide os despojos. 23 Quem não é por mim é contra mim; e quem comigo não ajunta espalha. 24 Quando o espírito imundo sai do homem, anda por lugares áridos, procurando repouso; e, não o achando, diz: Voltarei para minha casa, donde saí. 25 E, tendo voltado, a encontra varrida e ornamentada. 26 Então, vai e leva consigo outros sete espíritos, piores do que ele, e, entrando, habitam ali; e o último estado daquele homem se torna pior do que o primeiro. 27 Ora, aconteceu que, ao dizer Jesus estas palavras, uma mulher, que estava entre a multidão, exclamou e disse-lhe: Bem-aventurada aquela que te concebeu, e os seios que te amamentaram! 28 Ele, porém, respondeu: Antes, bem-aventurados são os que ouvem a palavra de Deus e a guardam! 29 Como afluíssem as multidões, passou Jesus a dizer: Esta é geração perversa! Pede sinal; mas nenhum sinal lhe será dado, senão o de Jonas. 30 Porque, assim como Jonas foi sinal para os ninivitas, o Filho do Homem o será para esta geração. 31 A rainha do Sul se levantará, no Juízo, com os homens desta geração e os condenará; porque veio dos confins da terra para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão. E eis aqui está quem é maior do que Salomão. 32 Ninivitas se levantarão, no Juízo, com esta geração e a condenarão; porque se arrependeram com a pregação de Jonas. E eis aqui está quem é maior do que Jonas. 33 Ninguém, depois de acender uma candeia, a põe em lugar escondido, nem debaixo do alqueire, mas no velador, a fim de que os que entram vejam a luz. 34 São os teus olhos a lâmpada do teu corpo; se os teus olhos forem bons, todo o teu corpo será luminoso; mas, se forem maus, o teu corpo ficará em trevas. 35 Repara, pois, que a luz que há em ti não sejam trevas. 36 Se, portanto, todo o teu corpo for luminoso, sem ter qualquer parte em trevas, será todo resplandecente como a candeia quando te ilumina em plena luz. 37 Ao falar Jesus estas palavras, um fariseu o convidou para ir comer com ele; então, entrando, tomou lugar à mesa. 38 O fariseu, porém, admirou-se ao ver que Jesus não se lavara primeiro, antes de comer. 39 O Senhor, porém, lhe disse: Vós, fariseus, limpais o exterior do copo e do prato; mas o vosso interior está cheio de rapina e perversidade. 40 Insensatos! Quem fez o exterior não é o mesmo que fez o interior? 41 Antes, dai esmola do que tiverdes, e tudo vos será limpo. 42 Mas ai de vós, fariseus! Porque dais o dízimo da hortelã, da arruda e de todas as hortaliças e desprezais a justiça e o amor de Deus; devíeis, porém, fazer estas coisas, sem omitir aquelas. 43 Ai de vós, fariseus! Porque gostais da primeira cadeira nas sinagogas e das saudações nas praças. 44 Ai de vós que sois como as sepulturas invisíveis, sobre as quais os homens passam sem o saber! 45 Então, respondendo um dos intérpretes da Lei, disse a Jesus: Mestre, dizendo estas coisas, também nos ofendes a nós outros! 46 Mas ele respondeu: Ai de vós também, intérpretes da Lei! Porque sobrecarregais os homens com fardos superiores às suas forças, mas vós mesmos nem com um dedo os tocais. 47 Ai de vós! Porque edificais os túmulos dos profetas que vossos pais assassinaram. 48 Assim, sois testemunhas e aprovais com cumplicidade as obras dos vossos pais; porque eles mataram os profetas, e vós lhes edificais os túmulos. 49 Por isso, também disse a sabedoria de Deus: Enviar-lhes-ei profetas e apóstolos, e a alguns deles matarão e a outros perseguirão, 50 para que desta geração se peçam contas do sangue dos profetas, derramado desde a fundação do mundo; 51 desde o sangue de Abel até ao de Zacarias, que foi assassinado entre o altar e a casa de Deus. Sim, eu vos afirmo, contas serão pedidas a esta geração. 52 Ai de vós, intérpretes da Lei! Porque tomastes a chave da ciência; contudo, vós mesmos não entrastes e impedistes os que estavam entrando. 53 Saindo Jesus dali, passaram os escribas e fariseus a argüi-lo com veemência, procurando confundi-lo a respeito de muitos assuntos, 54 com o intuito de tirar das suas próprias palavras motivos para o acusar. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  11 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. 5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? 14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. 21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. 27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. 29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. 37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. 38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. 39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. 40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? 41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. 42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. 44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. 45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. 46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. 49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: 50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. 52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. 53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: 54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Jó 24 1 Por que o Todo-Poderoso não designa tempos de julgamento? E por que os que o conhecem não vêem tais dias? 2 Há os que removem os limites, roubam os rebanhos e os apascentam. 3 Levam do órfão o jumento, da viúva, tomam-lhe o boi. 4 Desviam do caminho aos necessitados, e os pobres da terra todos têm de esconder-se. 5 Como asnos monteses no deserto, saem estes para o seu mister, à procura de presa no campo aberto, como pão para eles e seus filhos. 6 No campo segam o pasto do perverso e lhe rabiscam a vinha. 7 Passam a noite nus por falta de roupa e não têm cobertas contra o frio. 8 Pelas chuvas das montanhas são molhados e, não tendo refúgio, abraçam-se com as rochas. 9 Orfãozinhos são arrancados ao peito, e dos pobres se toma penhor; 10 de modo que estes andam nus, sem roupa, e, famintos, arrastam os molhos. 11 Entre os muros desses perversos espremem o azeite, pisam-lhes o lagar; contudo, padecem sede. 12 Desde as cidades gemem os homens, e a alma dos feridos clama; e, contudo, Deus não tem isso por anormal. 13 Os perversos são inimigos da luz, não conhecem os seus caminhos, nem permanecem nas suas veredas. 14 De madrugada se levanta o homicida, mata ao pobre e ao necessitado, e de noite se torna ladrão. 15 Aguardam o crepúsculo os olhos do adúltero; este diz consigo: Ninguém me reconhecerá; e cobre o rosto. 16 Nas trevas minam as casas, de dia se conservam encerrados, nada querem com a luz. 17 Pois a manhã para todos eles é como sombra de morte; mas os terrores da noite lhes são familiares. 18 Vós dizeis: Os perversos são levados rapidamente na superfície das águas; maldita é a porção dos tais na terra; já não andam pelo caminho das vinhas. 19 A secura e o calor desfazem as águas da neve; assim faz a sepultura aos que pecaram. 20 A mãe se esquecerá deles, os vermes os comerão gostosamente; nunca mais haverá lembrança deles; como árvore será quebrado o injusto, 21 aquele que devora a estéril que não tem filhos e não faz o bem à viúva. 22 Não! Pelo contrário, Deus por sua força prolonga os dias dos valentes; vêem-se eles de pé quando desesperavam da vida. 23 Ele lhes dá descanso, e nisso se estribam; os olhos de Deus estão nos caminhos deles. 24 São exaltados por breve tempo; depois, passam, colhidos como todos os mais; são cortados como as pontas das espigas. 25 Se não é assim, quem me desmentirá e anulará as minhas razões? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  24 Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? 2 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof. 3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. 4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. 5 Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children. 6 They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked. 7 They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold. 8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter. 9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor. 10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; 11 Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. 12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. 13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. 14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. 15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face. 16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. 17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. 18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards. 19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. 20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. 21 He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow. 22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. 23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways. 24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn. 25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth? ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦
